San Joaquin River Conservancy's April Board Meeting and Workshop
Wednesday, April 6th, 2022
The board meeting starts at 9:30 am, followed by a workshop at 10 am
This Wednesday morning, the State Conservancy will host a public workshop where the topic will be "Strategy for Operations and Maintenance." The workshop agenda includes an overview of Conservancy Properties including those currently open to the public and what it will take to provide access to properties not currently open to the public. There will also be a review of the $15 million state budget allocation and an overview of the role of a Joint Powers Authority.

Members of the public are invited to join the workshop to ask questions and make comments.

The board meeting and workshop will be held in person at the Madera County Government Center, 200 W. Fourth Street, Madera, CA 93637, and via Webex:

Stay up to date on Measure P spending plans by attending the next Parks, Recreation, and Arts Commission meeting on Monday, April 18, at 5:30 pm. PRAC meetings are held in person at Fresno City Hall or via Zoom.

Economic Impacts of Recent Droughts in the San Joaquin Valley with Josué Medellín-Azuara

California's agriculture and extensive water supply system have been challenged by recent years of drought, while consumptive water use amounts for agriculture are at historic highs. This talk will address the effects of drought on water sources, agricultural use, and consumers and the associated economic impacts, as well as considerations for water management in the San Joaquin Valley.

Josué Medellín-Azuara is an Associate Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UC Merced, and Associate Director at both the Center for Watershed Science and UC Agricultural Issues Center. His professional experience includes environmental management positions for industry and consulting and collaboration for non-governmental organizations.
