SCRC in the Community
Are you familiar with the advocacy work that Southern Caregiver Resource Center does on behalf of family caregivers?

In this video, learn how Southern Caregiver Resource Center provides resources and support to family caregivers throughout San Diego and Imperial Counties. Hear from community partners George G. Glenner Alzheimer's Family Centers and UC San Diego's Shiley-Marcos Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. Together we continue to care for those who care for others.
On behalf of the 4.7 million family caregivers in our State of California, the CRCs thank you for your support!

Thanks to your letters, emails and phone calls advocating for ongoing funding for the Caregiver Resource Centers (CRCs), Governor Newsom and the California Legislature have agreed to make permanent an additional $10 million in funding for the CRCs.

We couldn’t have done it without you!

"Let's Talk Caregiving"

In this month's episode, Roberto and Martha discuss caregiving from the male caregiver's perspective with special guest Gabriel Castro. Caregiving is famously known as a primarily a women's issue and that is because the majority of family caregivers are female. However, we know that men are also caregivers. Hear more about the experiences and challenges of male caregivers.

SCRC'S Caregiver of the Month Spotlight: Irma

Help us celebrate Irma as our July Caregiver of the Month. Irma has been caring for her mother with memory loss and diabetes for the last 11 months.

“Becoming my mother’s caregiver has impacted my life. Since I take care of her full time, one of the most difficult tasks is monitoring her insulin levels and making sure is doing okay. SCRC has shown me ways of strengthening my patience and asking for help from my other siblings. In the REACH2Caregivers class I’ve learned techniques to control my emotions and change my negative thoughts into positive. I now understand that what I feel is also important, and that as a caregiver, a daughter, a mother, and a wife I must take the time for self-care and appreciate myself in every way. Thanks to the SCRC team for the opportunity to be a caregiver of the month and giving us a space to share our story.”
