Upcoming Events
MnDOT College Drive Project update
The Minnesota Department of Transportation has been working with the Marshall community around the Hwy 19/College Dr. reconstruction project since the fall of 2019. The project is scheduled to begin construction in 2025 and as we move closer to that date – MnDOT is requesting city approval of the project layout. The Marshall City Council will be holding a public hearing around the recommended layout on August 24th. MnDOT would like to meet with businesses to go over the recommended layout and answer any questions you might have.

The Marshall Chamber, in partnership with MnDOT, will be holding two in person meetings at the Marshall Chamber on August 3rd at 8 am and 9:30 am. I hope that you will consider attending. This is a great opportunity to view the roadway layout if you haven’t and ask questions.

Please register ahead of time.

Letter to the Editor: Appreciate support of local state representatives
The 2021 (Minnesota Legislature) session was long and contentious, but important for Minnesota’s economic recovery. We want to acknowledge Sen. (Gary) Dahms (R-Redwood Falls) good work to help Minnesota employers and employees get back to business and for fighting against vast tax increases and new mandates on business that would have made Minnesota an even tougher place for companies to succeed and grow. The Minnesota Senate was especially helpful for Minnesota businesses.
Sen. Dahms:
• Voted to make sure PPP loans weren’t taxed in Minnesota. The Senate took this vote in March before taxes were due
• Helped make sure workers wouldn’t have to pay income tax on unemployment benefits received during the pandemic

• Voted to extend health care reinsurance for individuals, keeping premiums reasonable
• Voted against legislation that would have made Minnesota one of highest tax states in the country – despite a state budget surplus and availability of billions of federal dollars.
We also want to acknowledge the leadership of Rep. (Chris) Swedzinski (R-Ghent) on these efforts. We appreciate our legislators support for main street businesses in this community and for helping to make sure our state bounces back from the economic challenges the past year has thrown our way.
