March 2021
This newsletter contains news and information of interest about
Montana Rural Teacher Project. Thanks for staying informed.
That's the number of Montana Rural Teacher Project teacher residents who will complete the Master of Arts in Teaching degree program in Spring 2021.

9 new elementary education teachers and 8 in secondary areas of social studies and general science broadfield will enter the teaching profession. We are proud of these students and appreciate the school communities around the state who welcomed them during practicum and student teaching.

Soon, these awesome new teachers will be looking for a Fall 2021 position. MRTP graduates are committed to working in rural and eligible schools for minimally three years. Check here to see if your school is on the list.

Are you hiring? If so, have you registered to recruit at the Teach Montana Educators' Fair? Register with Hire-a-Bobcat here.
Seeking Mentors
Each Montana Rural Teacher Project graduate will be paired with a mentor during the first two years of induction into the teaching profession. This support is part of MRTP, along with support for school leaders and school boards in the districts that hire them. Yet another reason to hire a MRTP graduate.

Stay tuned for information on applying to become a mentor in next month's newsletter.

Maybe you have a teacher who is interested in becoming a school administrator? Refer them to the MSU Master of Education in Educational Leadership program.

Or maybe one of your current teachers is retiring in a year and you want to proactively ensure you have a highly qualified educator to fill their shoes. Refer someone to MSU's Master of Arts in Teaching program. This program offers those who already have a bachelor’s degree a pathway to complete a teacher preparation program and become a licensed Montana teacher. We will begin admissions for elementary education in Summer 2021.
THANK YOU for supporting Inclusive Community Camp (ICC), a MAT experiential learning opportunity, as part of MSU Giving Day.

We are excited to report 58 donors raised over $4550 to support the ICC, which provides an engaging summer experience for K-8 students with and without disabilities to learn and play together. Importantly, the ICC provides MSU teacher candidates with hands-on opportunities to differentiate learning by drawing on the strengths that all kids possess.
If you know of prospective MAT applicants,
