CAMARILLO, Calif. – To help replenish the critically low nation-wide blood supply, Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) is teaming up with Vitalant for a blood drive on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
The Bloodmobile will be located at 265 Durley Way, on the Camarillo Airport grounds to support the vital needs of the county.
Vitalant released information on the critical shortage stating, “With communities re-opening from the pandemic, travel resuming and patients seeking previously postponed medical care, Vitalant has less than a needed four-day supply of most blood types to meet patient needs at a moment’s notice.”
The simple, lifesaving act of blood donation can have a remarkable power to transform lives and provide many tomorrows.
Vitalant is the nation’s largest independent, nonprofit blood services provider exclusively focused on providing lifesaving blood and comprehensive transfusion medicine services for about 900 hospitals and their patients across the U.S. Every day, Vitalant needs to collect about 5,300 blood, platelet and plasma donations to help save lives.
