City Remembers Former PD Officer
In honor of former Cumming Police Department Officer Albert L. Hurst, Mayor Troy Brumbalow requested that the "Cumming Home" water tower near Ga. Hwy. 400 Exit 14 be lit blue during the week of July 26-30. Hurst, who served the Cumming PD from 1997 to 2004 and also spent part of his 30-year law enforcement career as a Forsyth County Sheriff's Office deputy, passed away on Saturday, July 24th. The City of Cumming honors the memory of Officer Hurst and asks residents to keep his family and friends in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Aquatic Center Outdoor Season Winding Down
Cumming Aquatic Center staff have begun winding down the Outdoor Leisure Pool (OLP) season, but there are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy this pool before the season ends!

Final weekday of the season is Wednesday, Aug. 4th (hours are 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.). From Aug. 7th through Sept. 5th, the OLP will be open weekends only (Saturdays 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays 1-6 p.m.). The last day of the season is Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 6th (1-6 p.m.). The Aquatic Center will offer Homeschool Days on Aug. 9th, 17th, 25th and Sept. 2nd (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; general admission applies and all are welcome). Adult water walking sessions conclude on Sept. 10th.

Before the pool is emptied for the season, be sure to bring all your furry canine friends out for Doggy Days on Saturday, Sept. 11th and Sunday, Sept. 12th. There will be multiple sessions for small dogs (under 45 lbs.) and large dogs (over 45 lbs.) over the course of both days. Register for this event by clicking here. Cumming Utilities Water Tanks Updated
Two Cumming Utilities water tanks on Canton Highway, near Cumming First United Methodist Church and a little more than a mile from the Cumming City Center site, recently received major facelifts. The tanks, which sit side by side, were each completely repainted inside and out. The inside painting helps to protect the tanks from rust issues.

Due to the close proximity to the City Center, the 500,000-gallon tank was adorned with the City Center logo and an antique hand pointing the way to the new development, while the 800,000-gallon tank features the "Cumming Home" logo. These tanks, which the Cumming Utilities staff members refer to as the "Sawnee Mountain Tanks," had not been repainted in 13 years so they were due for this facelift!
City Welcomes New Police Officer
Mayor Troy Brumbalow swore in a new City of Cumming Police Officer during the City Council July Work Session.

Emma French is the newest Cumming PD member and the first new recruit to come directly from the Police Academy since Chief David Marsh was appointed in the summer of 2019.

Welcome Officer French; the City of Cumming and Cumming PD are pleased to have you onboard!
