Last week was Refugee Week! (June 20 - 26)

Beginning with World Refugee Day last Monday, June 20, Refugee Week celebrations took place all around the world, but particularly in the UK, where Refugee Week was instated in 1998 as a part of the country's cultural calendar. It began in reaction to hostility in the media and greater society towards refugees and asylum seekers. Now, Refugee Week is a nationwide program of arts, cultural, and educational events that celebrate the contribution of refugees to the UK, and encourages a better understanding between communities. You can read more about World Refugee Day on the UN's website here.

U-M Graduates Now Eligible for "High Potential Individual" (HPI) UK Visa

U-M graduates are now eligible for a United Kingdom (UK) work visa, the High Potential Individual (HPI) visa. This visa aims to recruit skilled young workers from top universities across the world to elevate Britain’s workforce.

A job offer in the UK is not required to apply for the visa and those applying for the visa are allowed to bring dependents along with them. For more information about the HPI visa, visit the UK Government's website here and read this Michigan Daily article.
