For Everything there is a Season...
Nothing marks the passing of time more beautifully and succinctly than the ever changing produce at a farmers' market. It seems like just yesterday that we said goodbye to the last apples of winter and waited hungrily for the first sun kissed strawberry. And yet here we are again, with Zestars and Honeycrisps, and glorious grapes gently nudging us toward Fall. Markets remind us to live in the moment. And right now that moment is filled with the sweet overlap of two seasons. Over the next few weeks we invite you to savor every last tomato, every juicy peach and the waning but still wonderful sweet corn; along with apples, pears and return of winter squashes. The changing of seasons is a magical thing - enjoy it, with all your senses. Enjoy it with us!

Cooking with the Seasons
Lentil & Roasted Eggplant Salad
We thought this robust salad was the perfect choice for this week. Eggplant is at its best, tomatoes are still plentiful, and the heartiness of the dish gives a subtle nod toward Fall. You'll find the feta cheese at Raspberry Ridge Sheep Creamery. And our friends at Nature's Way Market can hook you up with some nice lentils.

FRESH PICKS OF THE WEEK
From the Field
Salvaterra's Gardens
Peppers are absolutely bursting out of the field and Salvaterra's sweet Italian frying peppers are fabulous for eating fresh and frying up for just about everything including omelettes, fajitas, and stir fries. Peppers are the perfect vegetable to buy in bulk in the summer and freeze for the winter! They require minimal prep - just chop up and freeze or freeze whole for stuffed peppers!

Here's what else you'll find - lettuce mix, arugula, kale (green curly, red curly, and tuscan), collards, head lettuce (red leaf, green leaf), scallions, red beets, carrots, tomatoes, red cabbage, onions (red, sweet walla walla), cucumbers, english cucumbers, red potatoes, gold potatoes, green beans, slicing tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, cocktail tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini (green, yellow), cilantro, parsley, basil, dill, leeks, poblanos, jalapeños, bell peppers (red, orange, yellow) and sweet Italian frying peppers (red and yellow), and apples.
Phillips Farm
It's time for Grapes! Phillips Farms will have a gorgeous array of varieties available throughout the season, and most varieties are seedless. Local grapes are something special and unique to farmers markets… you won’t find these gems at the grocery store.

Other fruit available at Phillips this week: seedless watermelon, Sugar Cube cantaloupe, regular cantaloupe, peaches, nectarines, plums, blackberries, raspberries and new crop apples (Gingergold, Gala, Blondee and Zestar). And don’t miss out on peak-season veggie favorites: Jersey tomatoes, corn, zucchini, green beans, cucumbers, eggplant, peppers, carrots, kale, beets, onions, garlic and more.
Scholl Orchards
We may still be in the steamy throes of summer, but APPLES are starting at Scholl's! Look for Zestar, Honeycrisp, and Ginger Gold this Saturday. Not to be overshadowed by their Fall friends, peaches are still in full swing - both white and yellow. You'll also find nectarines, plums. cantaloupe, watermelon and lots of veggies!

***SUMMER PEACH SPECIALS CONTINUE***
All quarts of freestone peaches ($7) and Half Pecks ($13) will be Buy One, Get Second One Half Price! Check out half bushel pricing for canning too.

Cabbage Throw Farm
Slowly the seasons have begun to change. With all the rain, heirloom tomato season is dwindling down but bell peppers are changing colors. It’s time to make stuffed peppers or continue the grilling season with some sliced eggplant. Cabbage Throw Farm will also have lots of shishito peppers, green beans, summer crisp lettuce, fennel and baby greens. Other crops include kale, chard, squash, cucumbers, cabbage, beets, carrots, kohlrabi, plum tomatoes, and herbs.

This is the week to enjoy the ripe tomatoes by simply slicing them, season with salt and pepper and drizzle with hot browned butter! Click here for recipe.

Comeback Farm peaches and pears also available!

There will be an even larger selection of dahlia bouquets to choose from, and there will be some fun new surprises as well! Did you know that Holy Cow flowers come with a water sleeve so they can travel with you for the day and stay perfectly fresh? It's one of the many things that allows their flowers to last so long. Be sure to stop by and pick up your blooms for the week!
Pasture Raised
Raspberry Ridge Sheep Creamery

Rob is featuring two bloomy white rind sheep cheeses this weekend. St Mark's is his newest cheese with a creamy texture and piquant flavor that pairs with fruit, crackers or your favorite beverage. Camembert is his classic bloomy white rind cheese that is mild and yummy all by itself.

Rob will also have your other favorites including feta, manchego, spreadable cheeses and curds. And rich, creamy yogurt in plain, ginger and maple; and blueberry yogurt smoothies.
Breakaway Farms

Breakaway Farms is preparing for Labor Day weekend and they know you are too! This week they cut some of the finest Grass-Fed, 40-day Dry-Aged Ribeye Steaks.
