2022 resolution decisions

Resolution decisions, including amendments made from the floor, from Convention 2022 are now available. Those resolutions that were endorsed will be conveyed to the appropriate order of government and/or organization. When responses to endorsed resolutions are received, UBCM will convey each response to resolution sponsors and make the full package of responses available to the membership and public generally.

2023 FireSmart program webinar

A FireSmart Community Funding & Supports (FSCFS) webinar to provide information for potential applicants on changes to the grant program has been set for Thursday, October 13, 2022. Please register in advance. For those who cannot attend this session, a slideshow and video from the summer webinar are available now. The FSCFS program provides funding to local governments and First Nations in BC to increase community resiliency by undertaking community-based planning and activities that reduce the community’s risk from wildfire.

2023 UBCM Convention hotel block

The 2023 UBCM Convention will be held in Vancouver the week of September 18 - 22. Reservations for the 2023 hotel blocks will open at 9:00 am on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. Pre-reservations and waitlists will not be accepted by the hotels. For more information about the hotels within the block, visit our webpage.

BC Building Code public review

The Province of B.C. has initiated a public review of changes to the BC Building Code to support cleaner, more energy-efficient new construction. Local governments, Treaty Nations, Indigenous partners, building owners, construction industry professionals, and others are invited to comment on the proposed changes through to November 4, 2022.

Harm reduction & the overdose crisis resource

As a follow-up to the UBCM Convention session on Decriminalization and Harm Reduction, the Community Action Initiative (CAI) is sharing new resources for local government elected officials. This resource will support conversations that elected officials are having with communities about harm reduction and the overdose crisis.
