Lakeway Historical Documents Now Online
The City of Lakeway Heritage Committee recently received the final version of a project that will help preserve Lakeway's history online. The Portal of Texas History is a project by the University of North Texas to document historical aspects of areas throughout Texas. Lakeway is now apart of those archives.

The historical portal features more than 150 documents related to Lakeway and the City's beginnings dating back to the early 1960s, including a newspaper article announcing the opening of the Lakeway Inn & Marina (now Lakeway Resort & Spa) in 1963. The portal also includes historical books on Lakeway, now in digital format, including "Lakeway: The First 25 Years & Earlier Times Around The Colorado River" by Byron D. Varner and "Lakeway: A Hill Country Community" by Lewis H. Carleson. The portal allows you to search the documents by year and title, as well as giving an overview of Lakeway's Heritage Committee and its formation to help preserve the history of Lakeway.

Rhythm & Reels Tonight
Bring the family out to another enjoyable evening of Rhythm and Reels this evening. The event starts at 7 p.m. on the lower level of City Park (502 Hurst Creek Road) with food, treats and games for the entire family. Corn hole, giant jenga, spike ball, can jam, ladder ball and much more will be available. Don't forget to bring your lawn chairs and picnic blankets to listen to the Stoney Gabel Band before an evening showing of The Princess Bride.

If you were able to attend the event last month, you might have had a chance to meet Patrick Renna (pictured left), star of the 90s classic The Sandlot, which played for families that evening. While we cannot guarantee a star from the movie The Princess Bride will be at the screening this evening, you still will never know what to expect at our great events by our parks & recreation team!
