Dear Constituents,

The Government of Canada has announced the launch of the 2022–23 call for proposals for community-based projects through the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP).

NHSP funding creates opportunities for seniors to be more connected, supported and active members of their communities. This year’s national priorities aim to do just that by focusing on projects that:
  1. support healthy aging;
  2. prevent elder abuse;
  3. celebrate diversity and promoting inclusion; and
  4. help seniors age in place.

Through a simplified application process, organizations are invited to submit project proposals that help seniors move beyond the pandemic and continue to play important roles in their communities.

The 202223 NHSP community-based call for proposals is open until November 1, 2022.

Senior-serving organizations can access support in preparing their application and managing their agreement.

For 70 years, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was an unwavering example of service to Canada and to the Commonwealth. This momentous occasion is an opportunity to celebrate those who make our community better, while paying tribute to the lifetime of work and commitment of our former Queen.

May Her Majesty Rest in Peace.
LIBERAL-NDP COALITION VOTES VOTES TO TRIPLE ITS CARBON TAX ON GAS, HEAT AND GROCERIES
The Liberal - NDP Government is driving up the cost of living. The more Prime Minister Trudeau spends, the more things will cost.

The government’s proposals do little to solve the problem. Proposals on dental and housing are bureaucratic and costly without real results for everyday people. While The GST Rebate will provide welcome relief that Conservatives support, it will not address the real problem: that inflationary deficits and taxes are driving up costs at the fastest rate in nearly 40 years.
For two years, Conservatives have warned Justin Trudeau about the consequences of his actions, and how much it hurts Canadians from coast-to-coast. This past week, new Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre called on the government to cancel all planned tax increases, including payroll tax hikes planned for January 1st and tax hikes on gas, groceries and home heating on April 1st. These tax hikes are coming at the worst possible time for Canadian families, who are struggling with rising costs due to Trudeau’s inflation. Instead of freezing taxes, Trudeau is raising taxes on people who are struggling to make ends meet.

While Conservative MPs voted to cancel all planned tax increases, Liberal and NDP MPs voted to keep them. This includes a planned tripling of the carbon tax.

Below is the speech Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre made to lead off debate on our Opposition motion to cancel the planned tax increases.

I encourage everyone to watch it:
