FMCSA/NRCME 10-Year Recertification
Did you take the FMCSA/NRCME training from the Iowa Academy of Family Physicians which we began offering in 2013? You may have recently received a communication from the FMCSA that the 5-year periodic training is due by the end of 2022 and will be offered solely by the FMCSA as web-based training. In addition, the 10-year periodic training and testing will begin in 2023 for those who have an expiration date starting in January 2023. Please see the linked communication from the FMCSA outlining the requirements and deadlines.

Dr. Kelly Pomerenke has been named the new medical director of MercyOne Primghar Medical Center and its clinics. 
Dr. Pomerenke has been practicing for more than 30 years and has worked at MercyOne on and off throughout that time. Over the years he has cared for patients in family and emergency medicine and has experience in nursing home medical directorship and community health clinics.

Need state mandated CME? IAFP is offering state mandated CME courses on Chronic Pain & End of Life Care on-demand. See below for more information and registration.

Iowa-licensed physicians are required to complete 2 hours of Category 1 credits for chronic pain management and 2 hours of Category 1 credits for end-of-life care every five years. These requirements became effective August 17, 2011, are for physicians who provide primary care to patients (e.g., emergency physicians, family physicians, general practice physicians, internists, neurologists, pain medicine specialists, and psychiatrists.)
