By Karen Tripp MS LMFT
Marriage and Family Therapist
Executive Director Cancer Companions
A week after Joy was diagnosed with HER2+ Breast Cancer, her husband asked for a divorce. The divorce did not deter the arrival of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy and radiation treatment.

Meet Marilyn.
She's Facilitating a Bible Study for you!
"You can’t pour from an empty cup and oncology staff and volunteers often give and give."
Everyone has bad cancer days, this often applies to those that work with cancer patients and caregivers.

Marilyn's goal for this Bible study group is to help oncology workers and volunteers refresh their sense of caring and remember that our strength ultimately comes from God. "We often get so caught up in caring that we forget to 'cast our cares on Him for He cares for you.'”

An Onco-Hero
A Cancer Resource Treasure
Chris Buck: MS, RN. OCN
Oncology Research Nurse
Why did you choose to be an Oncology Research Nurse?

I was drawn to nursing through being a volunteer EMT. I was drawn to oncology because of an encounter I had in nursing school.

While I was a nursing student, I cared for a woman with stage IV ovarian cancer who was being discharged to home hospice. That encounter had a huge impact on me with my decision to care for oncology patients.

Driving Home From Work
A Devotional
The heaviness of working with cancer patients typically does not catch up with me until I’m in my car driving home from work.
