A Message from Mayor Susan Shin Angulo
Dear Neighbor:

I am so excited to invite you to a very special event taking place next week, our first-ever Thanksgiving Unity Program, put on by our Cherry Hill Human Relations Advisory Committee.

On Thursday, November 18 at 7 p.m. at Temple Beth Sholom, this one-of-a-kind event will bring together performers, speakers, singers and faith leaders from across our incredibly diverse and inclusive community to celebrate unity and togetherness ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday and the Giving Season.

It is especially important to me that this event is taking place after the incredibly difficult 19 months we've all faced, as it gives us a chance to pause in gratitude, together as a community, for all we have, and share our hope for the future.

If you plan on attending, and I hope you do, please consider bringing nonperishable food donations for the Cherry Hill Food Pantry and the JFCS Betsy and Peter Fisher Food Pantries.

Thank you so much to our host, Temple Beth Sholom, for their hospitality and generosity, and to TBS Rabbi Steven Lindemann and CHPD Police Chaplain and Family Church Pastor Ted Winsley for their help organizing this beautiful evening.

Best of all - you can join us either in-person (masks and vaccination required) or via livestream at Temple Beth Sholom's website by clicking here.

As November is also National Native American Heritage Month, a time for us to pay tribute to the ancestry and traditions of Native Americans, I encourage everyone to learn more about Native American history and culture and join in events taking place this month to commemorate it. More information and resources are available at NativeAmericanHeritageMonth.gov.

Sincerely,

Susan Shin Angulo

Leaf Collection is Underway
🍂 2021 FALL LEAF COLLECTION 🍂

The full leaf collection schedule is available below and under the Public Works section of the Township's homepage, CHNJ.gov, or via this direct link: https://bit.ly/3FmojBe

🏠 If you hire a lawn service for a fall leaf cleanup, please note that they cannot rake
leaves to the curb for municipal collection. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to
ensure their lawn service hauls the leaves away to a disposal facility. Lawn services may haul leaves to the Township’s Kresson Road Ecology Site for disposal; this is a free service. Lawn services should call Public Works at 856 424-4422 for a permit.

🚛 Leaves may be bagged for collection by the Township’s waste hauler, (biodegradable paper bags only), or put into open cans. The Department of Public Works encourages this disposal method as leaves are picked up weekly on your regular trash collection day.

❌ Do not place leaves in the street. Leaves must be placed on the park strip-
(area behind curb or edge of road) or at the front property line.

⏰ Please wait until your neighborhood is posted with leaf collection signs before
raking leaves to the curb.

🚧 Department of Environmental Protection regulations restrict leaves from being
placed within 10 feet of any storm drains.

🌳 Residents may take leaves to the Kresson Road Ecology Site for disposal. Please
call the Department of Public Works for Ecology Site hours and to receive permission to use the site.

❌ Branches or other debris mixed in with leaf piles will not be collected.
Please note that weather conditions can interfere with the leaf collection schedule and a second collection is not always possible.

If you have any questions, please contact the Department of Public Works at (856) 424-4422.
Ever Wonder, 'Can I Recycle This?' - There's an App for That
Important recycling information from The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection:

Too frequently, the packaging used for some of today's consumer products includes the recycling symbol, a message that the packaging is recyclable or both when in reality the packaging in question is not accepted for recycling in any local recycling programs. While a product's packaging might be recyclable in theory, if no recycling collection program or recycling end markets for the material exist, then the material is not recyclable in practice. This misleading messaging understandably confuses consumers and ultimately leads to the recycling stream being contaminated by unacceptable materials.

When uncertain about the recyclability of an item, always check with your municipal or county recycling website for specific information on what is acceptable in your local program. Consumers can also get this information through the Recycle Coach system. Learn more about recycling at recycle.nj.gov.
