The congregation expresses Christian sympathy to the family of the Rev. Dr. Al Reese Jr., who passed away on July 28, 2024, in Bainbridge, Ga., just a few days before his 93rd birthday.

Dr. Reese was greatly beloved at GSPC. He served as interim pastor from 1993 to 1994, and he returned to serve as parish associate from 2006 to 2008. His portrait hangs alongside the portraits of former GSPC pastors in the hall outside of the sanctuary. The nature trail at Baytreat is named in his honor (a photo from the dedication is below).

A memorial service for Dr. Reese will be held at 11 a.m. on September 6, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church in Bainbridge, Ga. Online condolences may be made at www.coxiveyfuneralhome.com. Cox-Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
