HEARD AROUND TOWN
The Register-Guard helped us celebrate the new Y groundbreaking with our community!

"'They say that it takes a village to raise a Y, and it is such an honor to look around tonight and see so many members of that dedicated village,' said Board President Joe Carmichael to the crowd at groundbreaking Thursday night."
The Eugene Weekly reported on our fundraising progress and future plans for the new Y.

"The reality of having (a flagship facility) built here in Eugene, Oregon, says so much about the 135-year history of the community seeing this impact here and the truly selfless philanthropic support of the people who’ve stepped forward to make sure it happens during a historically difficult time,' he says."
KLCC radio captured our historic moment: groundbreaking for the new Y!

"Hundreds of supporters gathered at 24th and Hilyard on a blue-sky evening to celebrate. There were stories of the YMCA’s impact on families, and jokes about how long it’s taken to break ground."
Watch video coverage of groundbreaking from KMTR. They showcased our groundbreaking celebration!
KEZI 9 News shared stories of summertime at the Y! We love Y summer camps, where kids will make lifelong memories and friendships, sing the best camp songs and explore the outdoors!
KVAL highlighted Eugene's staffing shortages. Many organizations, including your Y, are having challenges finding the staff needed for summer.

"This is the worst that we have seen," says Crispin Shelley with Eugene Family YMCA. "Since Covid, of course, we’re seeing the same sort of struggles in finding staff nationwide. The labor market is crazy right now"
