Excited To Meet You!
I am so excited to be joining VTAAC and to get to know and work with each of you. My first day was June 21 and I have since begun diving in to all the incredible work that you have accomplished and the great work ahead. I’ve started to meet with various VTAAC members and partners and would be happy to meet with others too. If you would like to connect, please reach out. We can use Zoom or, if it makes sense, we can meet in-person for a sunny walk or a cup of coffee.

A little background on myself: I previously worked at the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock as the Event & Project Coordinator. There I spent much of my time community building, program managing and planning our largest fundraiser (CHaD HERO). I also oversaw the CHaD Ambassador Program, which is comprised of a group of CHaD kids and their families who represent CHaD at events and fundraisers. Before CHaD, I ran the state-wide volunteer program at the Vermont Foodbank. I love mountain biking, Nordic skiing and just (re)learned how to downhill ski this past winter! Having called Vermont home since I was 12, I care deeply about this state and the health and well-being of its people. I can’t wait to continue building community and working with you all to reduce the burden of cancer in VT.

Please reach out with thoughts, questions or to say hello by emailing coordinator@vtaac.org.

VTAAC Annual Cancer Summit Recordings

We had an excellent turnout for our VTAAC Annual Cancer Summit! This year was a bit different as we split the event into three sessions and it was entirely virtual, but we were excited to bring everyone together to discuss cultural competency strategies, cancer screening during and after COVID-19, and barriers to getting care.

If you missed one or more of the events, you can find recordings of all of the sessions on our website.
Thank you to all of those who participated in these sessions, including our wonderful speakers and panelists. Our sessions have inspired new conversations that we hope to bring into the new granting period over the next year. We will keep you updated as we discuss further.
The Breast Cancer Connection Circle
The Breast Cancer Connection Circle is a new support group for people navigating or recovering from breast cancer. Offered by the UVM Cancer Center, the circle is open to anyone navigating or recovering from breast cancer who lives in the Vermont and upstate New York region, regardless of where they receive(d) treatment.

The circle is facilitated by two breast cancer survivors, Stacy Burnett and Rae Carter, who will hold compassionate space for participants to build social connection and receive emotional support.

The Breast Cancer Connection Circle welcomes all genders and identities. Gatherings will be held the third Wednesday of the month from 7:00-8:30 pm on Zoom. There is no cost to attend. People interested in attending are asked to pre-register to receive the Zoom link and additional details from the facilitators.
