It's been 6 months since we tore down the buildings on the property next door and the wait has been painful. There are a lot of permits, approvals, and other moving parts required and we had no idea! You've hopefully noticed that things are starting to happen!
Over the next two weeks, the playground will be graded and getting the rubberized surface poured. Thank you to the 224 individuals who donated during Midlands Gives to make this important upgrade! Special thanks to Hank Stier for his years of supporting our work here but most recently for the incredible gift to finalize our playground goal! Mr. Stier told us that he has been blessed and he wanted to pass on those blessings to us, because "the children deserve it." In addition, we are especially grateful to George & Jean Davis for the generous matching dollars that spurred on so many donations!
The parking area next door is being cleared and prepped for paving and curbs. As construction moves along, we're going to need to change parking and drop-off procedures to give them access to the front parking lot for it to get repaved. We will be in communication via email/social media and texting. As soon as we have dates, we will share those with you.
Since we're not able to celebrate our 10-year anniversary in person, we are planning to host a BBQ lunch open house in the late summer/early fall to commemorate the anniversary and upgrades to our facility. Be looking out for that date!
Thanks so much for your patience as we make these incredible improvements!
