Governor Cooper's Announcement
Effective Immediately
Governor Roy Cooper has lifted all mandatory capacity and gathering limits, social distancing requirements and most mandatory mask requirements. In most settings, indoors or outdoors, the state no longer requires you to wear a mask or be socially distant. However, there will continue to be a mandatory indoor mask requirement on public transportation, child care facilities, children's day or overnight camps, schools, prisons and in certain public health care settings. Masks are also strongly recommended for everyone at large crowded indoor events like sporting events and live performances.
The NCDHHS still encourages those who are unvaccinated to wear masks. Anyone who has underlying health conditions should consult their doctor for advice on specific recommendations.
