Yom Ha'atzmaut Concert

The PJC is co-sponsoring a Yom Ha’atzmaut program at Beth El Synagogue Center, on Monday, May 13th, at 6:30 pm, featuring a short Yom Hazikaron Memorial Service and Ma'ariv with Hallel. Afterwards, we'll hear music from the wonderful Israeli musical duo YONINA.

Yom Ha'atzmaut at the PJC

The PJC celebrates Israeli Independence Day on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.


Our program will begin at 5:45 pm, at the end of Learning Center. Dinner will be served immediately following the program, approximately 6:30pm.


We will be offering (subject to change depending on registration):


  • Pita Bread, Falafel, Stuffed Grape Leaves, freshly made hummus served with hot sauce
  • Health Salad - Cucumbers, tomatoes, onion, parsley
  • Tabule Quinoa Salad - Quinoa, tomatoes, parsley and mint
  • Beet Salad - Beets, red onion, cilantro
  • Labane - labane cheese, zatar spices, olive oil
  • Babaganush - Fire roasted eggplant, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice and garlic
  • Tahini, Mixed Pickles & Olives
  • Pizza and pasta options for kids
  • And of course, ice cream and fruit for dessert!


Please RSVP ASAP. Half of the ticket fees collected will be donated to Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael-Jewish National Fund, an organization working to develop the land of Israel and strengthen the bond with the diaspora since 1901.


Tickets for dinner are as follows:

  • Adults: $18
  • Children (up to 12): Free

PJC Book Group

The next book will be Wolf Hunt by Ayelet Gundar-Goshen. It is available at the PJC Library, Pelham Library, as an eBook and on Amazon. Due to upcoming holidays, the next meeting will be held on Monday, May 20 at 8:00 pm on Zoom.


Award-winning author Ayelet Gundar-Goshen returns with a timely and suspenseful exploration of the fault lines in a community, a school, and a family, as a mother begins to  suspect her teenage son of committing a terrible crime.


The PJC Gala



The PJC Gala will be held on Sunday, June 2nd. Join us for an evening of fun, food, and live jazz honoring our friend Roger Krulak.

PJC Goes to Israel

The PJC is still planning to go to Israel! Our group is hoping to make the journey over the December 2024 school break (its two weeks long!).  This link provides a summary of the itinerary [ignore the July dates] and pricing. Please note - the prices listed don't include airfare, tips and some meals. It also does not factor in a $500 per person JNF grant we expect to receive.

PJC Refugee Resettlement Group

The PJC Refugee Resettlement Group is working with a newly-arrived Venezuelan family of three. 


Additional volunteers are needed in many areas, and in particular as tutors in ESOL/English language learning, and as professional mentors in Engineering, and/or Electrical Engineering. Please contact Matt Marcus or Rhonda Singer for more information.

Adult Education Program

Weekly Lunch and Learns via Zoom on Wednesday at 12 pm, with topics varying based on the interests of the group.

PJC Library News

The Library is open.


New books can be found on the mantle. To check out a book, write your name and the date on the card in the back of the book and leave the card in the office upstairs.


Return all borrowed books to the blue bin on the window ledge in the library. Please don't shelve returned books!

Treasurer's Message

Billing statements are emailed monthly. 


Credit card instructions are on your billing statement and on ShulCloud. Checks made out to the Pelham Jewish Center can be mailed to P.O. Box 418, Montvale, NJ 07645. 


It is the policy of the Pelham Jewish Center to make every effort to assist members experiencing financial challenges. Financial challenges should never be a barrier to being an active member of the PJC community. You can reach out to President Lisa Neubardt, Treasurer Mitchell Cepler or Rabbi Benjamin Resnick to speak confidentially concerning your ability to pay.
