Playground Update

We were so fortunate and thankful to have had a successful Penny Wars fundraiser. We appreciate your patience and assure you that we have been working very hard behind-the-scenes researching the best equipment and items that will be durable and portable to accommodate our needs. We promise to continue to update you as we move forward in this process. The proceeds from this fundraiser have been set-aside exclusively for this purpose.

Our children have been enjoying these additions to our playground so far:

- Kickballs, soccer balls, volley balls, and footballs

- Sidewalk chalk

- Giant connect 4

- portable volleyball net

- portable basketball hoop

- soccer nets

We would be very grateful for a parent volunteer that could help us to inflate playground balls once a week.

Lego Donations

If you have any extra Legos at home, please consider donating them to our STEM classroom.

The Carson Scholarship program awards students who have embraced high levels of academic excellence and community service. Carson Scholars must have a minimum GPA of 3.75 and display humanitarian qualities through community service. Sacred Heart Elementary School nominates one student every year.

We are delighted to announce that 8th grade student, Maren Crowleywho was this year’s nominee—has been named a 2022 Carson Scholar. Maren is an altar server at Saint Paul Cathedral Parish, assists Mrs. Maola at the St. Jude Lenten Fish Fry, and delivers senior boxes to homebound neighbors as a volunteer with the Doorstep Delivery Program of Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

Carson scholars receive a $1,000 scholarship award that will be invested for their college education, along with a medal and a certificate. Their name is also engraved on a plaque here at Sacred Heart Elementary School.
