Gratitude:

Thank you for praying for the 5th-8th grade NET retreats! NET Missionaries led students in a full day of talks, testimonies, games, small group discussions, and prayer, around these themes: In His Image! (Identity & Baptism) and Strength in Numbers! (Friendship).

This is what a student shared after the retreat:

"I liked this retreat and I enjoyed it a lot. It was a good break from school and had a major impact on my faith...I also enjoyed Adoration, especially when my small group leader prayed over me." - 7th grader

He is a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and has been involved with the parish for several years. In addition to working as a permanent substitute teacher at Creekside Middle School and Guerin Catholic High School, he recently completed teaching a 4th grade Child Faith Formation class at Our Lady of Mt. Michael has his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in theology and experience in communications having worked as a content developer for the Catholic animation company, CCC of America. He looks forward to helping students grow in their understanding of computers while tying the Catholic faith into students’ use of media and technology.

May Crowning Photos:

This Friday is May Crowning. Inter-state Studios (who does our school pictures) will be here taking group photos of the 8th graders. One picture will be in their dress clothes in the church. You may orde a copy of this picuture online here: https://interstatestudio510.shootproof.com/mtcarmel (picture will be added a day or two following the event). The other group picture will be of the 8th graders in their graduation gowns in the gym. Each child will receive a copy of this picture on May 26 along with their memory book.

may crowning.jpg

May Crowning Ceremony:

The 8th graders were presented with this question:

If you had to choose one girl and one boy to represent you as an individual and as a whole class before Our Lady and her Divine Son, Jesus Christ, who would you choose? Who would be a virtuous intercessor/advocate for you? Please prayerfully consider the individual members of your class.

After having the opportunity to choose one girl and one boy for this distinction, thirty different students were nominated by the class. This says so much about the wonderful students and families that we get to work with here at OLMC.

The following students were selected the most often by their classmates and will therefore have a special part in our May Crowning Ceremony next Friday, May 6 after the 8:00 am Mass.

Delaney Gould & Quinn Dorsel will crown Mary

Linus Bergsma, Jude Cook, and Robbie Fraga will be readers.

End of Year Teacher Gifts

Due May 18

.Dear All OLMC School Families,

The school year is coming to a close in a few short weeks! Our teachers and school staff have worked hard this year.

The PTO is collecting gift money for teachers and staff as a small token of our gratitude for all they have done. The gifts will be pooled together and each teacher and staff member will get their individual gift in SCRIP cards.

This year, you can donate in one of two ways:

For ease in ordering with SCRIP, we are kindly asking that you give your donation in $5 increments (Ex. $5, $10, $20, etc). We are also asking that you make your online or check donations by Wednesday May 18. Your room parents will work with the PTO to make sure the teachers and staff receive the SCRIP cards they desire.

Your year-end shopping is done super simple. Thank you for your generous contribution!

Sincerely,

OLMC PTO Board
