Dear Residents -

First heat wave of the summer is over. I hope you all were able to stay cool indoors or in pools - whether you were in your backyard or at one of our local swim clubs. May the heat waves be few and infrequent this summer!

Our Parks and Recreation Department has a lot going on this summer - day camp, Wednesday movie nights, summer concert series and pickleball tournaments! You name it, it is more than likely taking place somewhere in Orangetown. With all that Parks is offering our residents, they could use some help. Their maintenance staff is hiring seasonal workers, who must be 18 or older. If you or someone you know is interested, please have them call (845) 359-6503. Let them know you saw the hiring notice in my newsletter.

With your children home for the summer, don't forget to browse our local libraries and check out what they have to offer - for the kids and yourself. In Orangetown, we have 7 libraries to visit (and to take full advantage of): Blauvelt Free Library, Orangeburg Library, Palisades Free Library, Pearl River Public Library, Piermont Public Library (a/k/a/ Dennis P. McHugh), Nyack Free Library and Tappan Library. Plenty of places to visit and lots of things to learn. Get started today.

The Town of Orangetown administrative offices will be closed on July 5, 2021, in observance of Independence Day, but I hope to see many of you out on Central Avenue in Pearl River on July 4th. It will be wonderful to watch the fireworks in person and together. Thank you to the Pearl River Park and Activity Committee for bringing them back this year.

Happy 4th of July to all.

Regards,
Teresa M. Kenny

Public Service Announcement from Orangetown Police Department:
The Orangetown Police Department wants to remind everyone of the dangers of leaving a young child unattended in a vehicle. With the high temperatures we are expecting this summer, please be vigilant. A hot car can become deadly in just 10 minutes. Be safe and check your back seat.
Independence Day is special. It is a day to honor our past.
It is a day to celebrate our freedom.
