The International Music Foundation has a new name!

The International Music Foundation is excited to announce that we have changed our name to Classical Music Chicago. This change signifies a new future and fresh commitment to Chicago and our mission: to expand access to classical music; to enhance opportunities for artists early in their professional career; and to engage audiences in various settings through performance, education, and participation.

“We felt the time was right for a change as we look to the future,” says Mark Riggleman, Executive Director. “We have a new website, focus on new concerts and wanted to renew our passion of making Chicago the center of our efforts to bring classical music to the people of our community in unconventional and surprising ways.”

From favorites such as the Do-it-Yourself Messiah, taking place annually in December, to the Rush Hour Concert series, Classical Music Chicago is expanding its programming to include Concerts for Well-being and Rejuvenation. These musical events bring classical music to marginalized audiences, promoting community, creative interaction and therapeutic benefit for overlooked populations. Concerts are performed in places such as health care facilities, community centers, and schools. Whether new programming or returning favorites, the vast majority of our offerings will remain free, thanks to generous sponsorships and donations.

We will also continue to offer our established extensive programming including the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts, every Wednesday at 12:15, at The Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist, Chicago, 55 E. Wacker Drive; Rush Hour Concerts, every Tuesday June through August at 5:45 at St. James Church, 65 E. Huron, as well supporting the Young Peoples Concerts which brings classical music to K-12 schools. Additionally, we support Make Music Chicago, a one-day event that fills the streets with music and musicians.

Classical Music Chicago will continue to sponsor emerging talent and look to grow the ways we bring the magic of classical musical performances to people of all ages and backgrounds. To learn more about our work, to find a performance or donate, please visit us at www.classicalmusicchicago.org.
