Motivate your campers to read and register for the biggest competition of the summer, The Battle of the Books, by visiting StayHome.Miami/Battle for activities, videos and registration. Encourage your campers to join us for the Battle of the Books on July 22 at 6:45 p.m. for performances, prizes, read-alouds, and the battle to become the next Great Book Warrior! Your K-5 campers will each receive a grade level book at the June 10 Trust distribution and continue to encourage them to participate in activities leading up to the final battle.

UM Team COACH Live Virtual Training: Finding Stress Management Strategies that Work for You
Months of coping with the stressors of quarantines, shutdowns, losses, uncertainty and anxiety are taking a toll on our emotional health. If you are feeling stressed and overwhelmed, you are not alone! In this virtual training, you will learn and practice strategies to calm your body and mind. We’ll practice different stress reduction techniques so you are able to identify strategies that resonate with you. This training is appropriate for front-line providers serving families and takes place. June 9, 10-11a.m.
UM Team COACH Communities of Practice
UM Team COACH is now offering various Communities of Practice for Parenting Program providers! Join a community where members support one another, share best practices and deepen their knowledge. All of the following CoPs are appropriate for direct service providers and supervisors of Parenting Programs and are currently being offered virtually. If you have any questions, please contact teamcoach@miami.edu.

Parent Stressors & Barriers - In this CoP, we will be identifying key stressors and barriers your families may currently be facing, as well as identifying and practicing strategies to solve these barriers. Topics will vary. This CoP will be held on the first Wednesday of each month from 11am-12pm. Click here to sign up!

Creating Support Networks & Community Outreach/Recruitment - In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to create networks of outreach and referrals across parenting providers in the community. You will have the opportunity to get to know other community providers, share information, and support one another. Virtual recruitment will be an ongoing topic. Florida Department of Children and Families Offers Rental Assistance
The Department of Children and Families recently launched OUR Florida, the Emergency Rental Assistance Program, that will benefit Floridians who have suffered due to the pandemic’s economic impact on working-class families. OUR Florida, or Opportunities for Utilities and Rental Assistance, is now accepting applications for families in need of aid, regardless of their city of residence, at OURFlorida.com. The program focuses on low-income renters whose household income is at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI), which varies by county. The program will prioritize renters with income at or below 50% AMI and/or families who have experienced unemployment within the past 90 days.

Floridians who rent their homes are eligible if they:
  • Earn an income at or below 80% of the AMI; and
  • Have qualified for unemployment, experienced a loss of income, incurred significant costs or faced financial hardships due to the recent public health emergency; and
  • Are at risk of losing their home or are living in unstable or unhealthy conditions.

Candidates must have experience working with individuals with histories of complex trauma, medical and mental health issues, and developmental needs and delays. Master's in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy and excellent engagement skills required. Licensed professional and certification and training in PCIT, TF-CBT, and/or CPP preferred. Experience with LGBTQ+ children and/or adolescents preferred. Motivational interviewing experience a plus.
