Global Experience Student Spotlight

GECP Student Emma Bullock on Study Abroad Program in Ireland:

I always knew I wanted to study abroad, so I went on MSU’s study abroad website and found Dublin! I chose this program because it was one of the only ones that offered a class that was child/education focused, and I had never been to Ireland.

I’ll never forget this experience, because not only did I learn a lot, I got to see different cultures including Ireland, Netherlands, and Germany (I did other traveling since I was already in Europe). Studying abroad definitely made a lasting impact on me since it was my first time traveling since Covid began and the class I took there was my first in person class within a mask! In this way it felt like a “return to normalcy” which was something we all craved for some time.

Here two pictures that I would like to share from my summer study abroad experience. The left one is me visiting the Dublin Castle on a rare sunny day, and beside it, I am representing MSU on the ocean’s beach in a nearby city!

One piece of advice I wish I knew before going is that if you go to Ireland, even in the summer, do not pack shorts. Before August, it’s unlikely it will reach 65°F.

Enjoy fall break!
