Worship with Us this Sunday

October 16, 2022 | 10:00am In-person and Facebook Live or replay on Facebook later

We are celebrating Reformation Day this Sunday because next week – Reformation Weekend in the wider church – is a Fifth Sunday and the return of the well received JHLTB (Jesus Has Left the Building).

The Protestant Reformation was a religious reform movement that swept through Europe in the 1500s. It resulted in the creation of a branch of Christianity called Protestantism, a name used collectively to refer to the many religious groups that separated from the Roman Catholic Church due to differences in doctrine.

Our scriptures are Joel 2:2-9 (an unpleasant reflection of judgement) and Luke 18:9-14 (Jesus talking about people being haughty, arrogant, mean-spirited). We create a rough world for others and ourselves when we work against love – when we forget or refuse to focus on love (see 1Corinthians 13).

Please participate in worship virtually via our livestream on Facebook if you have tested positive for Covid in the last 5 days.

Masks should be worn and respected for in-person worship under the following conditions:

1) You have tested positive for COVID 6-10 days ago and you still have symptoms;

2) You are in a high-risk group and/or have underlying conditions;

3) You are more comfortable wearing a mask.

In order to protect individuals and the wider community, we strongly encourage up-to-date vaccinations and boosters against all communicable diseases.

Peace UCC

204 E. Lockwood, Webster Groves 63119

Sprouts of Peace – our interfaith group for kids through 5th grade (and teen helpers) will be meeting again on Saturday, October 22nd from 2-4pm at Peace United Church Of Christ (204 E. Lockwood, Webster Groves 63119).

You can park in the upper parking lot off of Lockwood Ave and then enter the building through the double red doors.

Masks will not be required for this event.

We would love to have each family bring two pair of large tube socks with them to this event. The socks will be used in one of our outreach projects.

The theme for this event will be Hearts and Hands. Sprouts will be using their hearts and hands to help make the world a better place. During our event sprouts and family members will have the opportunity to tour our worship space and to ask any question they may have. We will be reading Just Help! How to Build a Better World by Sonia Sotomayor. Then we will work together to put together/create:

1. Sock of Love - Hygiene kits in socks for people without homes.

2. Baskets of Fun - Basket with needed items for children at Children's Hospital.

3. Canvas Bags- Decorating canvas bags with fabric markers that will be used in a Little Pantry for folks to carry their food home.

4. Greeting Cards - Decorating/coloring greeting cards that will be delivered to folks at a local nursing home.

We will end our time together with the sprouts of peace song and snack.

We look forward to having you join us on October 22nd! Feel free to bring another family with you! The more the merrier as we help build a more compassionate and inclusive world alongside our Muslim and Jewish siblings.
