IAWF would like to recognize and thank Liam and Ryan Razmjoo for raising funds for scholarships for our Mentorship to Internship program. We asked these brothers why they were inspired to fundraise for this case, and here is their response: "Many successful Iranians come to the United States just to see their highly specialized training invalidated by American regulations. Unfortunately, they struggle to recreate their careers in America and suffer economic hardship as a result. At an early age, we watched my mother’s childhood friend, a licensed doctor in Tehran, fail to obtain her medical license in the United States. She was unable to pay for classes or materials to prepare for the exams, and she finally settled for a job as a medical technician.
These stories inspired us to fundraise for the Iranian American Women Foundation. We reached out to family and friends and also raised additional funds through the sales of our short story book. Our goal remains to increase access for women’s education and employment. To work towards this goal, we have raised enough money to develop the Empowering Iranian Academics scholarship. We wholeheartedly believe that reducing systemic barriers will have a monumental impact."
"We are grateful to these inspiring young men, and we look forward to the difference this scholarship will make in our mentees' lives," IAWF Founder Mariam Khosravani said. Send us an email at contact@iawfoundation.org to learn more about establishing your own scholarship fund.
