City to address Eubanks Creek today

.....The Jackson City Council will consider a measure to address flooding, erosion and rehabilitation of Eubanks Creek at today's Work Session at City Hall. The Work Session will begin at 4 p.m.

.....Fondren residents who are impacted by Eubanks Creek are encouraged to attend the Work Session and be recognized.

.....The actual vote on Eubanks Creek improvements will take place at the Council meeting Tuesday, 6 p.m. at New Hope Church, 1555 Beasley Road.

.....Once approved, a Community Meeting will be scheduled and a Community Advisory Committee will be formed.

.....Funding for this planning phase of Eubanks Creek was provided by the Mississippi Legislature.

Fondren Community Vax Bash

.....Get ready for a fantastic evening of health and community spirit at the Fondren Community Vax Bash during the Fondren Block Party. The Vax Bash will be at the Fondren Post Office parking lot on Fondren Place from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Vaccinations Offered 

•  Free Shingles Vaccine for adults age 50 and above.

•  Free Updated COVID-19 Vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) for individuals age 19 and above.

.....Rebecca began painting in 2014 to provide an older friend some companionship and encouragement. She had a busy career in technology at the time, but committed to paint when not working, taking workshops from some wonderful artists.

.....She returned to Mississippi, her birthplace, in 2021 to help with needs of family, friends and community. 

.....Rebecca became a member of The Gaddis Group in 2022. The Gaddis Group is comprised of watercolor painters who share a studio and come together to create artwork, share knowledge and provide each other constructive critiques.

.....You can watch Rebecca paint and view her art from 9 a.m. - noon on June 8 at the Street Art Pop Up on Old Canton Road, between Quiznos and Fondren FroYo.

Meet the founders of Greater Fondren Arts

.....Led by FRF Vice President Cathy Boone, Fondren artists have been meeting since March to discuss ways to promote art and artists in Fondren. One outcome: Greater Fondren Arts - an organization of artists and arts advocates in the Fondren area.

.....The next meeting is scheduled for Friday, June 28 and will include a tour of Pearl River Glass Conservatory.
