The direct encounter with the immediate sense of being is the most important thing spiritually. Without that, there’s no foundation.” ~ Adyashanti, Two Instincts of Enlightenment

What Is a Spiritual Life?
Flower blossom on zen circles in sand
With our new Sunday Community Practice underway, many in our sangha are embracing the opportunity to incorporate regular spiritual practice into their lives. This month’s newsletter takes a closer look at the question, What is a spiritual life? Adyashanti and Mukti share their perspectives on the subject in the two articles included below. And, as always, we’ve highlighted various video and audio teachings that support a deeper exploration of the subject.
A truly spiritual life is a life dedicated to a series of self-transcending commitments. By self-transcending I do not mean self-denying or self-negating, I mean something that is all-inclusive and not ego driven. I also mean something that is for the benefit of all beings. But essentially self-transcending commitments are doorways into all-inclusive reality . . .
“One of the great koans of a spiritual life is ‘What is a spiritual life?’ Such a question can take form in one’s being before such words even register, often on the heels of a series of other questions. As I mentioned in last month’s newsletter, Adya has often spoken of putting first things first in our questioning . . . ”

Registration opens June 1

A Weeklong Online Retreat is designed to mirror the experience of Adyashantis in-person residential silent retreats. The schedule includes daily talks and Q&A sessions, along with several periods of guided and silent meditation.

This retreat will be held in the Pacific time zone (PT) but is open to everyone around the world. If you are not able to attend the sessions live, all sessions will be available for replay, so you can adapt the schedule to something that works well for you.
Sunday Community Practice
“My intention with the Sunday Community Practice sessions is to put more focus on the spiritual practice of meditation, and to have the teachings be oriented toward the various aspects of effective spiritual practice as it is integrated and lived in daily life.” ~ Adyashanti

We hope you will join this ongoing community that meets live online twice a month for deep spiritual practice and inquiry. The community welcomes all who wish to meditate on a consistent basis and dedicate themselves to making enlightened living a significant priority in their lives. Single practice sessions are also available.
