To help parents and caregivers find the best summer camp options for their kids, The Children’s Trust is once again partnering with Miami-Dade County and Miami-Dade County Public Schools in the More Summer Camp Choices initiative that lists The Trust’s funded summer camps as well as the county and school systems summer camps on the JCS 211 Miami Helpline, available by calling 2-1-1 or visiting 211miami.org/summercamps. Parents can find the summer camp that works best for their children, with the focus and activities that most suits their needs and interests, more easily than ever.

Pause Circles: Get in the flow

Tuesday, June 25, 2-3:3 p.m.

Pause is an invitation to be in the flow – to be present, awake, accepting and befriending of the many layers and facets of you. The Pause circles invite an inquiry into what it is (for you) to be human, an inquiry through deep listening – to our minds and bodies to identify beliefs, habits, behaviors that both support and inhibit social and emotional wellbeing. New Differentiated Literacy Instruction Course Now Available on the Trust Academy LMS *

Project RISE is pleased to announce the launch of our Differentiated Literacy Instruction (DLI) Basicscourse on the Trust Academy LMS. Certified teachers and those responsible for literacy testing can now, at their convenience, learn all they need to know to get DLI started this summer.

Ever wonder why some children participate in engaging activities while others put their head down on the table? In this virtual training, youth development program staff will learn to recognize and respond to youth needs by creating routines and establishing effective guidelines and consequences that will result in positive youth engagement. 


Once registered on the Trust Academy LMS, you will receive an email with the Zoom link and additional handouts and information one business day before the training.

Communities of Practice: Join a community where Parenting Providers support one another, share best practices and deepen their knowledge. CoPs are held virtually the first week of every month.


  1. Starting From Scratch Series Community of Practice *: Calling all parenting providers! As the new contract year begins, we want to be there for you. This new CoP series will include live trainings on hiring staff, recruiting participants, and managing data. We will also be launching a new "Starting from Scratch Q&A" Community of Practice to answer all of your new contract year questions! Stay tuned for more details soon! NOVO Nonprofit Business Awards Now Accepting Applications *

The NOVO Awards are open to not-for-profit organizations and recognize programs and individuals that

have made a difference in the lives of the people they serve, produce outcomes that exemplify innovative excellence and feature best practices of not-for-profit businesses.


Awards are presented in three categories:

  • Nonprofit program innovative excellence in an organization with a budget of less than $2 Million
  • Nonprofit program innovative excellence in an organization with a budget of more than $2 Million
  • Outstanding Board Leader that exemplifies the best in nonprofit board service


Deadline for application submission is July 8. Application must be complete when submitted. Only one entry per organization may be submitted.

  • Copy of the organization’s 501 (C)(3) IRS Determination Letter must accompany application

Free Training by Network for Enhancing Training in Disaster-Affected Youth in August

Free training in Miami presented by the Network for Enhancing Wellness in Disaster-Affected Youth (NEW DAY). Child-Adult Relationship Enhancement (CARE) is a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive set of skills based on several strong evidence-based parenting programs. CARE uses specific skills for general use by all adults who interact or work with children, including those who have experienced trauma. Community Engagement Manager $61,565.02-$107,738.79 Annual

The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for performing a variety of community-driven duties with an emphasis on maintaining contact with community groups, parents and other caregivers, providing support to residents on children’s needs, as well as evaluating and responding to community needs concerning children. The incumbent exercises independence of action and will possess considerable knowledge of community activities and needs for children and families and use considerable professional judgment in the performance of community engagement work. Community Grants Administrator - $61,565.02 Annual

The Community Grants Administrator is responsible for the general administration of the Community Engagement and Outreach grants program and maintenance of the Community Engagement budget and reporting, in conjunction with the Associate Director of Community Engagement. Job Postings for Breakthrough Miami

Director of High School Programs *

The Director of High School Programs is responsible for planning and implementing programming for Breakthrough Miami’s high school students to ensure they are prepared for academic success in high school, and successfully transition to college. The Director will work closely with students and families as they navigate the high school years, and hold students to high academic and community standards. During the school year, the Director will plan Saturday programming, monitor academic progress, set goals for inside and outside of the classroom, and navigate school and other community resources, to ensure students stay on track for college. Over the summer, the Director will work with the BTU team to plan and execute the six-week Summer Institute for 150+ 9th grade students to build community and support academic readiness, and the transition to high school. 


The individual in this role is self-motivated, creative and an excellent communicator, who is able to develop and maintain key relationships.


Development Coordinator - Events, Engagement & Stewardship

The Development Coordinator will support donor and adult volunteer stewardship, engagement opportunities, and development events. Serving as a connector between donors and the program, the Development Coordinator will collaboratively develop stewardship and engagement plans and support special events management to create meaningful experiences and connections. The Development Coordinator will also support operational needs including refining processes for acknowledgement, gift reporting and pledge collections.


The individual in this role must be able to endorse and communicate the Breakthrough spirit and mission; be a skilled relationship builder, comfortable with donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; and have excellent writing and strong event planning/coordination skills.


Site Director

The Site Director manages the staff and day-to-day operations of the school year and summer programs at one of Breakthrough Miami’s six host school sites. This position is responsible for ensuring all program operations are aligned with Breakthrough Miami’s vision, mission and goals; and for continuously improving educational enrichment and operational processes.

 

The individual in this role is able to operate effectively in diverse environments, achieve outcomes in a flexible, fast-paced environment, lead change and inspire others to action, and communicate consistently and effectively.

 

Assistant Site Director

The Assistant Site Director (ASD) is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of programs and services that most directly affect Breakthrough Miami Scholars and families. An ASD oversees campus or site logistics, unpaid student volunteers and some stipended positions, such as Teaching Fellows. As an ambassador of the program, the ASD builds supportive relationships with students, parents, schools, the community and other stakeholders to ensure the academic and socio-enrichment success of all Breakthrough Scholars. 

 

The individual in this role is organized, self-motivated and collaborative, with strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
