Silent Auction

Special Edition

The Susan Lindgren Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) Online Silent Auction is here!

Starting TODAY, there are so many exciting items and events in the inaugural online auction, a little something for everyone!  Some items require a highest bidder while others are a fixed price, but have a limited quantity, so be sure to check it out and get tickets early! See the FAQ and auction details below.  All funds raised through the auction go directly to supporting PTO-funded events like: field trips, student enrichment activities (i.e. Festival of Nations, Student Showcase Fair, June Jamboree), as well as yearbooks, online directory, and so much more!

Starts:  Saturday, March 18 at 9:00 am

Ends: Friday, March 24 at 8:00 pm!

Website: https://sle.betterworld.org/auctions/spring-silent-auction

There are three types of silent auction items:

Grade-Level Teacher-Hosted Experiences:

  • Teachers are hosting in-school grade-level parties for ALL students in that grade.  Rather than buy individual tickets, parents/care-givers can sponsor the grade-level party.  Follow the link in the grade-level party to sponsor.
  • Once the sponsorship goal is reached, the grade-level party is ON!

Ticketed Events:

  • For ticketed events, there is a fixed price (so not bidding against other people), but there may be a limited quantity of tickets available on a first come, first-serve basis, and some will sell out quickly, so don’t wait to check them out!
  • For example: 4 Kindergarten families volunteered to host a ‘Halloween in May’ party for kindergarten families.  There is a fixed price ($10/family) for families to attend the event.  Those funds go directly to the PTO.  The families volunteering to host the event provide the space and any materials.
  • Once the auction is live you can buy a ticket through the auction website. Click on the event listing and within the description follow the link to buy tickets.
  • More information about the event will be sent to you by the staff/parents hosting the event after the auction is closed.

Traditional Items:

  • These are items, services, experiences donated by local businesses or families. Place an individual bid on these items. The highest bidder wins.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Who can I reach out to if I have any questions about the silent auction?

A: Send an email to susanlindgrenpto@gmail.com; someone from the silent auction committee will respond or forward your email to the appropriate person.

Q: Do I need an account?

A: You don’t need an account to see all the wonderful items available, but you’ll need to register for one to bid. You will also be asked to put in credit card information in order to be able to bid and your card will automatically be charged if you are the winner of an item (i.e. the highest bidder) or upon purchase of a ticket for a Ticketed Event or sponsoring a Teacher Hosted Experience.

Q: How does bidding work on the Items?

A: Normal auction bidding rules apply to anything that is not labeled “Teacher Hosted Experiences” or “Ticketed Events”. You can be outbid on items, so check back often! Bidders can set a maximum bid amount. Example: I’m bidding $30 but I’m willing to go up to $60. The website will show my $30 bid but no one sees my maximum bid of $60. If someone outbids me by bidding $40, the system will automatically re-bid the next increment for me (example: $45) until the bidding hits my maximum price. If I want to continue bidding, I log in and enter a new bid.

Q: On the last day, do I automatically win an item if I bid on it in the last few minutes before the auction closes?

A: Not necessarily; the auction has “Popcorn bidding” enabled. This will automatically extend the bidding time on an item by another 10 minutes if a new bid is placed within the final 10 minutes of bidding. Enabling this option gives more time for outbidding, helping us raise more for each item!

Q: Who can attend a Ticketed Event?

A: Every Ticketed Event will include a description that specifies who can attend.  Some are for the grade-level family (Halloween in May), just students (Clay Sculpting for 3-5 graders), and some may be just for adults!

Q: I won an item! Now what?

AWinning bidders can pick up their items at St. Louis Park Library (3240 Library Ln- Conference Room) during the following times: Saturday, March 25, 12 -2 pm OR Tuesday, March 28, 5-7 pm

If you are the winner of an experience, service, fresh food item or other non-tangible item someone from the silent auction committee will be in touch with your fulfillment details.

Q: What if I got tickets to an Experience?

A: Look for an email from one of the hosts as the date approaches with all the info you'll need for participation. Please ensure the email attached to your auction account is current.
