HAWK TALK

Dear WCA Family,

Thank you, thank you for another great week at WCA! Give yourself a pat on the back for:

Getting students to school on time!
Keeping students home with sniffles, sore throats, colds, stomach aches….”just in case”
Giving grace to teachers who are working so hard!
Reaching out to new families, new students, new teachers with encouragement, smiles, and a welcoming heart.
Following carpool rules by hanging your sign up so that callers can see it and staying off phones and devices while in WCA parking lot
Understanding the need right now to change up our schedule and limit parents/visitors in the building.

All of these moments and choices have made it possible to not only stay in school successfully for 2 weeks, but to grow as a family and thrive as a school body.

A special shout out to the Parking Lot Prayer Group, who have prayed for each of you, your child(ren), and WCA with commitment and passion!

And another shout out to our virtual students and families who have been patient and supportive as WCA teachers and in person students welcomed each one into the classrooms. We are so glad to have you!

Thank you most of all for the privilege of being a part of your lives.

All Grades JK-8th | Drop-off 8:00am - 8:15am

JK & Kindergarten | Pick-up at 2:30 pm

EC, 1 - 8 | Pick-up at 2:45 pm.

After School Care: 2:30 pm - 6:00 pm. Students must register in the

office for after care.

Tuesday, August 31: Regular School Day:

Wednesday, September 1: Regular School Day

Thursday, September 2: Regular School Day

Friday, September 3: Regular School Day

All Fall sports teams are off to a great start! Practices, games, matches, and meets will begin soon. Here is the upcoming schedule:

Monday, August 30th, our Cross Country team led by Coach Hastings will run in a meet at Liberty Prep in Mooresville at 4:15pm.

Thursday, September 2nd, our Upper School Volleyball Team led by Coach Vining is playing a match at Marvin Zion Church versus Walnut Grove at 4:00pm.

Our Upper School Soccer Team, led by Coach Maloney will begin their season after Labor Day on September 7th at Liberty Prep. Kick-off time to be determined.

WCA values the safety of our students and staff. Fire Drills will be held monthly in accordance with guidelines established by the Union County Fire Department. Tornado and lockdown drills will be held intermittently throughout the school year. School safety plans of action have been discussed with all teachers and subsequently with all WCA students. We intend to take every step necessary to ensure the safety of all in our building. Thank you for your support.

The next PTF meeting will be held outside by the flagpole on Tuesday, September 7^th at 8:15 following morning carpool. Please bring a chair. All are welcome. We will begin with a brief fellowship and then discuss relevant business. Hope to see you there.

WCA Events Update

WCA has decided to postpone our Grandparents Luncheon until a later date when more families and grandparents can participate in this special WCA event.

Curriculum Night has been canceled for this Fall, but we are exploring ways to hold our Book Fair safely as scheduled. Please stay tuned for more information.

Thank you for your prayers and support as we navigate through these difficult times. Keeping WCA healthy and safe so our kids can be in school is our top priority!
