Postcard from the President
From the words of Salvador Dali, “A true artist is not one who is inspired, but one who inspires others.” Let the FAEA Annual Conference inspire you as an artist and educator. I look forward to seeing all of my friends and colleagues from around the state from October 14 through 17 at the Caribe Royale in Orlando. Workshops, art forums, and demonstration sessions ranging from STEAM to SEL are presented by our volunteers, members like you! Don’t miss our keynote speaker, Hamilton Glass, who will engage the audience in relevant social justice initiatives in the visual arts. This is the most comprehensive professional learning for art education in the state of Florida. Come out and join the fun as we Reunite, Reconnect, and Recharge with CDC guidelines for safety. Keep up to date on sessions and bid on raffle items by using our conference app. Members or Local Art Education Associations (LAEA) are encouraged to display their artistic creations by reserving a table at our Artist Bazaar. Share your talent and support each other through this networking event.

The Advocacy Committee is welcoming you with a hands-on station for creating your own personal statements of support for art education. Come by the tables, outside of the general session rooms, to create a message for positive social change in art education!

Make sure your voice is heard by voting for the new 2022-2023 Board of Directors before the general session. We are so excited to have our members enthusiastically step up and become part of a rewarding experience in art leadership. Nancy Puri will be our new president and with her distinguished leadership style, a respectful and proactive agenda will lead our state to new heights of professionalism in the nation.

Purchase your Awards Breakfast ticket today to celebrate this year’s winners from around the state. Check out the website to see our distinguished awardees! Our goal is to recognize individuals within the membership who have achieved the highest level of professionalism in art education, and to show appreciation for individuals or organizations that have contributed their services in an exemplary way to the association and to the professional goals we share.

On Saturday night, relax with friends and enjoy a plated meal and the dance floor at the Gala as we celebrate our exceptional work from this past year and look forward to the new academic year with colleagues and friends.

After conference, sit back and reflect on the learning and the networking to ignite your curriculum and move the needle of excellence further along the spectrum. Begin thinking through your ideas and encourage your students to participate in this year’s Youth Art Month.

Celebrating and cherishing the work of our association is part of what makes our association exceptional. Become part of the vision by volunteering; be the artist that inspires others!
