Adoptable Pet Spotlight
Meet Captain!

This is Captain! He is a 5-year-old grey, domestic short haired boy who is around 8 pounds. When he came to the shelter, we noticed he had some eye issues. Because of the issues, Captain had to get his left eye removed. His right eye is also shrunken leading him to be completely blind. This doesn't stop him from being a super sweet man though! We have found he is good with other animals. Come meet this sweet boy today.

If you are interested in meeting this pet, please contact Chesterfield County Animal Services at 804-748-1683, option "0," to schedule an appointment.
Office staff are available by phone 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. The shelter is located at 9300 Public Works Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832.
Updates from Chesterfield County Public Schools
Bellwood Elementary and Falling Creek Elementary Start Classes on July 19
Is it that time already? Students at Chesterfield County's two year-round schools — Bellwood Elementary and Falling Creek Elementary — return on July 19. All other Chesterfield County schools open for students Aug. 23-24. Click here for CCPS year-round and traditional calendars.

With the 2021-22 school year approaching, Chesterfield County Public Schools is committed to providing students with a safe, supportive and nurturing learning environment. We strongly encourage all students to return to face-to-face instruction. There are many benefits to having students in school: from academic, social-emotional and mental health viewpoints. We encourage parents to talk to their child’s school about these benefits.

In addition to face-to-face instruction for 2021-22, Chesterfield County Public Schools will offer online options for families who are concerned about in-person learning:
  • CCPS Virtual Academy for grades K-8 (full-time online instruction that follows the school system’s traditional calendar; students will work with licensed teachers who may not be associated with their home school)
  • CCPSOnline for grades 6-12 (full-time online instruction built for flexibility for middle school and high school credit courses)
