Bad weather insurance
USASBE will is having our annual conference in Philadelphia on Jan 19, 2017. It's the first time we have held the event in a cold client city since our group started over 50 years ago. Our board has concerns that a snow storm or bad weather may keep people from attending the conference. Can someone connect me to a reliable insurance company who provides coverage against inclement weather?

Engaging staff in active membership activities
At the AACD, we've recently decentralized the membership role, believing that it's an all-staff effort to ensure our members are excellently served, engaged and retained. While specific staff members are still responsible for the mechanical aspects of acquisition, fulfillment and onboarding, we're searching for a predictable activity or process that ALL staff can participate in (when they're not doing their day-to-day tasks) to help grow our membership base, engage our members in our highest value offerings and cement their loyalty to AACD, so that come renewal time, their decision is a no-brainer. Is anyone leveraging staff to grow and retain members? What activities are they doing that make a difference?

Overtime rule policy
Has anyone developed a policy to address the FLSA Overtime Rule? I'm wondering how others are tackling this issue, specifically overtime approval, comp time and after-hours email usage.

Corporate pricing model
The association I run currently offers individual memberships, and we are considering a corporate pricing model based on number of employees. I am hoping to benchmark with groups who are already practicing the corporate pricing model.

Industry Partners
Brag a little bit - Let us help spread your good news!
Did your property recently complete a renovation? Did you launch a new product or service for associations? Perhaps you received a promotion or industry recognition? Let us know! We love to help spread good news related to our industry partner members. Please send your brags to Michelle Czosek.

ASAE
American Associations Day will be held March 15-16, 2017
American Associations Day is the only legislative fly-in where association professionals like you can connect with Congressional offices and share your story on important association issues, like the DOL overtime rule, tax reform, and the importance of federal employee attendance at association meetings. This unique opportunity allows you, as an association professional, to create connections with policy-makers that will not only advance the association industry, but your own organization as well.  More info.
ASAE post-election message
ASAE President and CEO John Graham, FASAE, CAE, put out the following statement to ASAE members on Nov. 9: "A deeply contentious and emotional national election is over and no matter how we feel personally about the outcome, we as association leaders have a unique challenge and opportunity to impact public policy in a positive way and put our resources to work for the betterment of society and the world at large."
