Members and Supporters,
As we wind up 2021 with the last newsletter of the year, I want to say thank you to our members for your incredible support. It’s been another year of accomplishments and continued challenges with the pandemic, but we stayed the course to support our members and community. Also, we are grateful to our generous sponsors who have given back to support events, programming and even other members and more throughout 2021.
We are finishing up the Chamber’s Five Year milestone anniversary, ready to do even bigger and better things for our members in 2022 and beyond! In fact, while we are watching this new variant carefully, we have planned a robust 2022 and look forward to seeing everyone in person once again. We'll keep you posted over the coming weeks. In the meantime, please mask up and get vaccinated so we can once again be together. Be sure and check out the Five Year Anniversary Page and all of the memories we’ve created over the years and in celebration of this milestone.
Speaking of memories…the Chamber Holiday Food Drive and Chamber Holiday Celebration was the perfect way to close the year. This holiday season, the Chamber yet again brought together businesses and the community in support of LGBTQ+ seniors. Before the food drive last year, there had not been a focus on supporting LGBTQ+ Seniors on a large scale and bringing the community together for this important cause and raising the visibility about the struggles they face.
The Chamber has a unique role in bringing together business and community to give back to the LGBTQ+ community, and we see this as an important role that can help our community in ways we've never seen before. At the intersection of business and community, the Chamber will be doing more in 2022 to connect members, community and more! You can read more in this issue about the impact of the Chamber Holiday Food Drive.
And, lastly, I want to say thank you to our board members who are committed to the mission of the Chamber and to our Executive Administrators who go above and beyond to support the work of the Chamber. Each of these individuals make a difference for the Chamber and for the LGBTQ+ community.
I wish you and yours Happy Holidays. See you in 2022!
With gratitude,
|

What a day! The Chamber Holiday Food Drive was absolutely amazing and to see tons of people and companies drop off food and donate to the Virtual Food Drive shows the power of community coming TOGETHER to make a difference.
Chamber Holiday Food Drive Impact
- Increase the number of holiday boxes from 150 to 250
- Provide 3,750 shelf-stable meals to be distributed from food drive donations during the holidays
- Fill up the Montrose Center's Outreach & COVID Pantries and, in addition this year, stock the brand new pantry at the Law Harrington Senior Living Center
And this doesn't even include the donations from the Virtual Food Drive which has raised over $5,500, and will have even more impact, as well as the donations to be delivered in 2022 from ARCA Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages!

Part of the METRONext Moving Forward Plan, the University Corridor project is a new METRORapid line which will operate in a dedicated, transit-only lane to move through traffic. The proposed route alignment passes through multiple residential, business and education centers between the Westchase Park & Ride near the intersection of the Westpark Tollway and the Sam Houston Tollway and ending at the Tidwell Transit Center, near the intersection of Tidwell Road and U.S. Highway 59.
You are invited to participate in a Virtual Open House to learn more about this project. The open house will be available via the METRO website at www.RideMETRO.org/University.
Following a brief welcome message from METRO President & CEO Tom Lambert, take your time to review the project overview presentation which provides detailed information about the project and color-coded segment maps to help you identify areas where you may live, work or visit.
At the end, learn why your feedback is important to us and share your thoughts through an online survey.
Community participation and input is important as this project moves forward.
