Sunapee Happenings

Belted Galloways at Harding Hill Farm.

October is a fine month in the Lake Sunapee Region. Days dawn in misty mornings but soon become radiant with warm sunshine. There are occasional torrential rains, welcomed by our gardens, & a bit of chill, but the sun always comes through. From pumpkin spiced everything, to wooly flannels… Fall is becoming cozier.

Cue The Music

TONIGHT!

A Beethoven sonata cycle by the violin virtuoso and the pianist extraordinaire.

In this exhilarating exclusive, the duo performs Beethoven's complete violin sonatas ahead of kicking off their world tour. The three-day recital marathon promises to be an unforgettable affair with Midori's "technical brilliance and flawless playing" (Die Rheinpflax) and Thibaudet's "sophistication and suavity" (The New York Times).

Midori was awarded the Kennedy Center Honor for her extraordinary lifetime contributions to the arts and is celebrating the 40th Anniversary of her professional debut. And Thibaudet has built a reputation as one of the world's finest pianists over a three-decade career.  Learn More

The Spirit of Johnny Cash

Saturday, October 22

7:30 pm

Starring Harold Ford as Johnny Cash and Laura Lucy as June Carter Cash.

This is what country music is all about - the music of Johnny Cash. The Nashville music press has hailed this show as a “must see to believe.” Harold Ford is incredible as Johnny Cash. He sings and looks exactly like the man in black - and it comes naturally. When Laura Lucy takes the stage as June Carter Cash, the combination is pure magic. And The Red Hot Cash Band is an extraordinarily talented team of musicians, who recreate the music that made Johnny Cash country music’s most iconic performer.

SPRING AWAKENING achieved cult status by giving powerful voice and glorious dance to teenagers rebelling against a cruel and repressive society. With music by Grammy Award winner Duncan Sheik, this Tony Award-winning musical energetically pushes modern teen angst against the backdrop of an 1891 German school. Based on a controversial 19th-Century play, Spring Awakening features a contemporary folk-rock score to express the essence of adolescence. History and today’s headlines intersect in this powerful musical that’s not to be missed!  Learn More

Just 20 Days to November 8th Election.  Your Vote is Your Voice.

The 2022 election may be a “mid-term” with typical lower turnout, but in New Hampshire, the only office we are not voting for this year is President. All state offices, most county offices, one of our US Senators and both US House of Representatives are on the ballot this year. This election matters.  Become informed. If you need an absentee Ballot, consult the Town Clerk

at your local Town Hall. Additional information can be found on the nonpartisan LWV website.

Out & About

Thinking about winter preparations?

Now is the time to check to make sure your dock de-icer is up to code and working properly.

This month if you are into fall projects and working on docks and considering de-icers, please check out our website for information on de-icers, guidelines plus lake safety and environmental concerns. Lake residents are encouraged, as they prepare for winter, to double check the wiring that connects to their docks and de-icers. Remember, regular inspection, testing, and maintenance can find electrical system deficiencies that permit electric current to pass through the water.
