The Skechers Friendship Walk is Sunday, October 30th! 

Today, Team Jefferson is at 110 WALKERS towards our goal of 250.  With that, it's time to get our school team registrations in high gear....

Register to walk with TEAM JEFFERSON and RBEF for the Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk supporting kids with special needs AND our public schools. 

Last year, Team Jefferson had 272 walkers and received an incredible check from RBEF for $12,240! This year, let’s form our largest team ever!

This year, if we reach our goal, Mr. Winckler will be slimed at school during the Halloween Parade. 

In addition, every student signed up to be a walker receives:

 1) a homework pass (to be used at the discretion of the classroom teacher)

2) an extra bonus recess with Mr. Winckler (in November)

3) a raffle chance to be a "Mr. Winckler slimer" at the Halloween Parade (one slimer representative per grade level)

4) one raffle chance to co-lead/MC the Halloween Parade with Mr. Winckler

Sign up your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers and even your PETS. This is also a great opportunity for family members and grandparents near and far to support Jefferson Elementary School. The more walkers we get, the more money our school receives!

HERE’S HOW TO REGISTER!

1. Select Join Team.

2. If you registered last year, log in using the same email and password. If not, sign up as a New User and click Join as a New Participant.

3. Follow the prompts to finish registering.

4. Please Register Each Walker Separately. If you’d like to give a larger donation, please do so in the form of separate walkers so we get the full credit!

5. Remember to select the “Redondo Beach Educational Foundation” so Team Jefferson can benefit from your contribution.

Do you enjoy art, music and dance or have an interest in writing, producing films and taking photos? Then join us and have fun unleashing your inner artist with PTA Reflections Artist Competition! 

The PTA Reflections competition is NOW OPEN. The theme for 2022-2023 Reflections is "Show your Voice!!"

The categories are dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. All entries will be submitted online. Students in TK through Grade 12 are invited to create and submit original works of art in these areas. To start, please begin the application: REFLECTIONS APPLICATION.

JOG-A-THON 2022 IS COMING!

Jog-a-thon date: Friday, December 9, 2022.

Information on opportunities to support the Jog-a-thon with business and family t-shirt sponsorships have been sent home. The packets include a letter you can bring to your favorite local business and ask if they would like to be a sponsor. All business and family sponsorships that your family brings in will be added to your student’s fundraising total. Sponsorships to have logos and names printed on t-shirts are due November 4 so don’t delay!

The packets also include pledge envelopes and instructions to set up your child’s online fundraising page.

Every student that registers online will receive a Jefferson glow in the dark bracelet!

LGBT History Month – LGBT History Month is an annual month-long observance of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history, and the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movements.

Filipino American History Month – In 2009, U.S. Congress recognized October as Filipino American History Month in the United States. Filipino-Americans along with colleges and universities, museums, and community groups will be commemorating Filipino American History Month with various activities and events to bring awareness to the significant role Filipinos have played in American history.

Dyslexia & Learning Disabilities Awareness Month - October is Learning Disabilities Awareness Month, a time when the nation turns its attention to the one in five students who learn differently because they have Dyslexia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or other learning and/or attention issues. It is a time to share tools, strategies, and initiatives to make the school year more enabling and productive for the millions of learners with specific learning disabilities.



Oct 24^th – Diwali – Also known as the “Festival of Lights,” Diwali is one of the major religious festivals in Hinduism, Jainism, and Sikhism. The name is derived from the Sanskrit term dipavali, meaning “row of lights.” Festivities include sharing sweets, lighting sparklers, and creating rangolis. Every year in October or November, millions of Hindus, Sikhs, and Jains all across the world celebrate with a five-day festival that marks one of the biggest and most important holidays of the year in India.
