TPCA is proud to have partner organizations that share in this mission and have found new ways to work with health centers during these challenging times. Thank you to Rhythm Health for your donation of PPE items for community health centers!
Items donated by Rhythm Health include: aprons, disaster kits, disposable masks, face shields, goggles, gowns, hand sanitizer, KN95 masks, N95 masks, nitrile gloves, and powder-free nitrile gloves.

Governor Lee Signs Executive Order
Last week, Governor Lee signed Executive Order 83, reinstating certain regulatory flexibilities for health care providers. Out-of-state health care providers, retired providers, and practical nursing graduates can work in Tennessee.

OSHA Emergency Temporary Standard
On August 5, 2021, NACHC and FTLF held a webinar providing an overview of the ETS and a discussion on COVID-19 safety precautions that recognize workforce fatigue. To view the recording, please email regulatoryaffairs@nachc.org.

TPCA created a COVID-19 Resources page that contains information and tools for health centers and the general public on a variety of COVID-19 related topics including TPCA’s COVID-19 vaccines, updates, human resources & operations, telehealth, and PPE.

Every office has its plum assignment. At Cherokee Health Systems in Tennessee, the largest Federally Qualified Health Center in the state, staff want to get on the mobile unit, which operates in the heart of Knoxville’s homeless community.

Infrastructure
The Senate passed a $1.2 trillion bi-partisan infrastructure bill on Tuesday including funding for traditional infrastructure such as roads, bridges, railways, and broadband. The bill includes $550 billion in new spending over five years. Senate Democrats are determining which of their priorities can be encompassed in a $3.5 trillion partisan budget resolution to address ‘social infrastructure’ needs such as childcare, climate change, education, employment, and health care.
NACHC, PCAs and health centers have been advocating for $10 billion in infrastructure funding for health centers to be include in any infrastructure package.

Appropriations
The House of Representatives passed a seven-bill minibus appropriations package that includes Labor, Health and Human Services and Education funding.
The legislation included $1.8 billion for the Health Center Program, an increase of $148 million from FY21. This funding included $50 million for School-Based Health Centers, $25 million to establish the new Alcee Hastings Cancer Screening Program and $152 million for the Ending HIV Epidemic Initiative.

340B
Representatives McKinley (R-WV) and Spanberger (D-VA) introduced the PROTECT 340B Act to combat discriminatory reimbursement policies that threaten health centers’ abilities to provide patients with 340B-eligible medications in Medicare and private insurance.
