UMC/BSA Affiliation Agreement Implementation
in the Heart of Virginia Council
In June 2022, the United Methodist Church (UMC) and the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) at the national level announced a new model for how local UM churches, units, and the Heart of Virginia Council (HOVC) will relate to each other. This new Affiliation Agreement takes the place of the Charter Agreement for UM Churches.

Volunteers Needed at Day Camp
Howdy Partners! We're wrangling up at least four volunteers to help out at our upcoming Cub Scout Day Camp at Robious Landing Park, serving as walkers that ensure groups of Scouts and buddies successfully navigate between stations. If you are available Monday, July 11th through Friday, July 15th, we would be ever so grateful for your help.

Pack Family Dens Pilot Program -
Memorandum of Understanding Due July 22nd
We have been approved to participate in the Family Den Pilot Program by the National Council of the BSA. The program will allow you to form dens that are comprised of boys and girls instead of being limited to single-gender dens only. Participation in the Pilot Program is 100% voluntary, but units that wish to participate must complete and submit a Memorandum of Understanding no later than July 22nd!
The Heart of Virginia Council's 2023 National Jamboree website is full of information for Scouts and Scouters who are interested in attending this awesome event from July 19th - 28th, 2023 at Summit Bechtel Reserve. If you missed the National Jamboree organizational meeting, you can check out the website for information and to request your own personal Jamboree presentation at an upcoming unit meeting.
