A Message from the Founders…
We hope you’re all enjoying your summer so far and doing something meaningful. For us, helping kids have fun by giving them opportunities for growth and creativity is where it’s at. Our music enrichment program, “Together in Tune” is in full force at various locations throughout the West San Fernando Valley, and we’re so excited to see it take off. As the program expands we’ll be launching classes at other sites upon request. If you know of a location – a church, community center, after school program, homeless shelter, or an independent organization that might want to include music for kids in their curriculum, please contact our program director, Lauri Reimer lauri@gettogetherfoundation.com for more information. Meanwhile, stay safe. --Kevin & Mare Wachs, co-founders
TOGETHER IN TUNE - GTF'S Music Enrichment Program for Underprivileged Kids
Look carefully at the image with all the kids' drawings. How many times do you see the word "HAPPY"? The drawings were done by kids in Reseda Elementary School participating in the Boys & Girls Club summer camp and our music enrichment program. The instructor asked the kids to draw something they felt when listening to the music. They had crayons & colored pencils. Can you guess what song they were listening to?
One of our awesome teachers, Dann Gillen, connected us with Latin Percussion where we were able to purchase a quantity of percussion instruments including Djembes, Giant Egg Shakers, and Tambourines for the music program! A big thank you!
These portable Casio electric keyboards really help enhance our music program. Teachers are able to take them to the sites where their classes take place and play live music.
OUR HAND WASH KIT PROGRAM IS UP AND RUNNING AGAIN!!!
THANK YOU EARTHLY BODY!
We just got a whole new batch of purified bottled water and we're ready to start assembling again!
Also a big thanks to LA Care for being an ongoing sponsor of our program.
