WEDNESDAY NEWS

Fr. Grant Stokes will be joining us on Wednesday, July 13.

Fr. Grant is Rector at Trinity Church, Portsmouth.

Please welcome him back to St. Bride's.

RITE 2

As is our custom, we began celebrating the Rite 2 version of the Mass following Corpus Christi. Using Rite 2 allows us to remain familiar with both this authorized version of the liturgy and the music which is paired with it.

It is also helpful as many of our supply priests are well versed in Rite 2 language.

We will revert to Rite 1 at Advent, so you will be using Rite 2 and the accompanying Mass settings in four months.

SUPPLY PRIESTS JUNE THROUGH AUGUST

SUMMER CHANGES

The Altar

From July 3 until after Labor Day the Altar Guild prepares the altar with a lovely antique lace frontal. This helps visually in keeping the altar light and airy looking, as well as limiting wear and

tear on our silk frontals, since otherwise we must change them for holy days.

We love knowing that 100 years of St. Bridians have used the lace frontal.

Choir Practice and The Rosary

Thursday night choir practice is suspended from July 6 - September 7.

This allows time for vacations and the opportunity to enjoy the summer.

A rehearsal is held at 10am on Sunday morning. All are welcome.

The Rosary group will also take a summer break from July 6 - September 7.

Please continue to say the Rosary at home.

If you need a Rosary or materials please see Florence or Mary Lovell.

FORWARD PLANNING

The Vestry is working with the Diocese and a consultant to prepare

St. Bride's for our next priest.

Meanwhile, know that we are moving ahead, and have the support of the

Diocese and the Bishop.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Here are some volunteer positions available at St. Bride's.

  1. Torch bearers - We eliminated the torches during COVID to assist with social distancing. We want to re-instate them in September. In order to do so we need at least 4 - 6 people who are willing to serve once or twice a month as torch bearers.
  2. Is anyone interested in being an usher? This is a great introductory job, but very important. You would greet worshippers, hand out bulletins, gather offerings and assist at communion, in a rotation once a month.
  3. Does anyone have a talent for or an interest in flower arranging? Lynn and Mary Lovell are arranging on a regular basis. Kathy is available as a substitute. Would anyone else be interested in exploring their flowery side?
  4. There are always small jobs like digging holes, cleaning and organizing or wiping down wood work. Let us know if you are bored - we can fix that!

PRAYER NEEDS

Please continue to pray for Fr. Tom and Edie.
