The Gators and the Tigers are both undefeated, but the Tigers are a half a game back in the standings by virtue of a tie earlier in the season. The highlight game of the week had to be the Gators vs the Wildcats. The much improved Wildcats gave the Gators all they could handle Friday night but came up short 36-30. Girls 3rd/4th Standings

GVBL Tournament Teams

The Storm competed in its first ICBA game of the season, defeating Montgomery by a score of 27-20. The Storm played stifling defense and withheld a late run by Montgomery to secure the victory. The biggest news out of that game was that it was the team's 100th win since beginning in 4th grade together. The Storm also played on Sunday night in the Malvern League and lost to a physical Phoenixville team in a tough contest. The Storm will continue with both ICBA and Malvern League games after the holiday season.
The 26ers opened their ICBA season Sunday afternoon at home and cruised to a 56-20 victory over an overmatched Pennsbury squad. All 11 players scored for the 26ers, which is always a fun accomplishment. Plenty of tough opponents are on the schedule, but a good to start the season. Next game is 1/9 at 4:30PM at home vs. MARA.
The 29ers opened the ICBA season with a win and a loss over the weekend. The 29ers lost to Whitemarch 35-30 on Friday night but bounced back to beat Boyertown on Sunday 40-14. Tanner Melia was in the zone and had a personal best 12 points in the game on Sunday. The 29ers are also off to a great start in the Malvern League with a 2-1 record so far. The 29ers are working to line up a couple scrimmages for the winter break but next games are on January 9. Happy Holidays to the GVBL family!
The Great Valley Hive 5th Grade Girls opened up the ICBA Season with a loss to Langhorne, last year’s Division 1 runner up. They Hive played hard the entire game and will be an admired opponent for years to come. The girls will take a short break form competition and resume in the Malvern League and ICBA League in early January.

GVHS Girls Basketball

It was a physical and they fought hard against Owen J. Roberts. It was a close game throughout and always within 5 or 6 pts either way. Great Valley just needed one more bounce its way.
GVHS Boys Basketball

After winning the Twin Valley Tipoff Tournament the boys have split their first two games of the season and their record stands at 3-1. The JV has an even record of 1-1 after the opening week of their season.

GVMS Girls Basketball

The 7th grade girls kicked off the week on Monday with an impressive 36-4 win over Peirce Middle School. The offense was clicking early and the defense was suffocating throughout. The game of the year happened on Wednesday as the team traveled to Lionville Middle School to face a talented squad and a boisterous student section. It was a defensive battle early, with Lionville up 8-6 at halftime. Great Valley turned it on in the third to take a 16-12 lead. Lionville fought back in the fourth and it was tied 20-20 at the end of regulation. One overtime was not enough, neither was two. At the end of the third overtime, the Patriots prevailed 27-26, moving their record to 7-0 on the season. Down the stretch for Great Valley, free throw shooting was key. Madelyn Shaughnessy, Ava Hall and Kate Weikert were calm under pressure and all hit big free throws while the crowd was doing its best to play spoiler. The team has one more game before winter break, traveling to Downingtown Middle on Monday.

GVMS Boys Basketball

GVCO Community Partnership
Philadelphia is the nation's poorest big city with nearly 300,000 children living in poverty across the region. Cradles 2 Crayons Philadelphia has a reach that goes well beyond the borders of the city itself.
Chester County, including the Malvern area, is included in the region in which C2C is having an impact. GVCO is once again partnering with C2C, hosting our 3rd Annual Donation Drive. Reaching out to our Great Valley community in an effort to help those right here in our area.

Part of C2C's mission: "Our whole focus is to make our collaborative process as easy and streamlined as possible. This helps us to empower the children we serve collaboratively — at home, at school, and at play — by providing the everyday essentials that match their individual needs." GVCO's reach here in the community, coupled with C2C's ability to reach those in need is the perfect partnership for our GVCO Caring Hands foundation.

Childhood poverty is a serious nationwide issue and the local area is not immune. Without adequate and appropriate clothing, children face unfair barriers and participate in life on an unequal playing field. Cradles to Crayons uses the term “Clothing Insecurity” as part of our efforts to formally recognize the issue, and increase awareness on this hidden basic need.

GVCO is proud to be partnering with such a worthy organization in helpng C2C reach its inspiring mission and goals.

GVCO Project Update
GVCO is excited to announce that we have been awarded $750,000.00 of state funding to assist with the construction of our new GVCO Community Center. With the help of Senator Comitta to secure the funding, GVCO sees this as another milestone towards making this wonderful community asset a reality for Great Valley and the surrounding region.

Please see Senator Comitta's recent announcement of the grant this past Monday. We would also like to thank Governor Wolf and the Office of the Budget of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for authorizing this award, supporting GVCO and our project.

GVCO Donor Spotlight
Narayanan/Tan Family
In the summer of 2019, the Narayanan/Tan family embarked on the 7th household move, starting with our first all the way from California in 2000. That’s a lot of relocations in our lives, many of which were emotional and mental roller-coasters. We said goodbye to old friends and eventually, hello to new ones. As we look back, there’s always been at least one family in each city, which we’ll always cherish and keep in touch with.
The move to the Great Valley area was probably the most challenging. We arrived and tried to settle quickly, not knowing the world was about to change in just a few months. Our daughters participated in GV Crew and Soccer, which in some small way, made things normal for us as quickly as we had hoped. We thank everyone who’s welcomed us here, and giving back is just one small way we’re able to show our appreciation to this wonderful community. As an employee of a large company with a strong community presence in the area, a great way for some of us to contribute to GVCO is through the company matching gift program.”
