NJASA in the News

Dr. Richard Bozza, NJASA Executive Director, was among a group of education advocates who this month formally asked the Legislature to add $3 billion overall for school construction — $2 billion for Abbott districts and $1 billion for the rest. On Tuesday after the latest proposal was released, Dr. Bozza said he welcomes any additional money for school construction but said the allocated amount is just a fraction of the overall needs.

Dr. Richard Bozza, NJASA Executive Director, cited the reduction in younger students and pointed out the expense of having children in some high-priced areas, including many Shore communities. “When I look at the statewide number it has to be a change in the residential patterns, the cost of homes in Monmouth and Ocean counties have gone up considerably,” he said. “Where does a young family get a starter home?"
Governor Signs FY 2023 Appropriations Act into Law
06/30/2022 Trenton – The budget once again provides the highest level of school funding in history as the State continues to deliver on a seven-year plan to fully implement the constitutionally-sound school funding formula, makes a second consecutive full pension payment for the first time in more than a quarter century, and supports significant investments in the economy. “This budget both invests in New Jersey’s future while preparing for an uncertain global economy,” said Governor Murphy.
