Health updates for residents of the
Roanoke City & Alleghany Health Districts (RCAHD)
It's FINALLY Their Turn!

Virginians over 6 months old have started
receiving FREE COVID-19 vaccines
On June 23, the Roanoke Health Department was thrilled to be among the first local providers to begin offering COVID-19 vaccines to our youngest residents, ages six months and older. We vaccinated more than 50 newly eligible children at that clinic.

Now more than 450,000 children in Virginia are eligible for COVID-19 vaccines which help protect against severe illness, long-term complications, and death.

At the June 23 clinic in Roanoke was the Elliott Family with their 21-month-old twins (top), and the Dunagan Family with their 3-year-old son (left).

Get Vaccinated- Get Rewarded!

We're giving away TWO FREE ride passes to the Salem Fair to anyone who gets vaccinated at our Craig Health Department clinic this Thursday, July 7 in New Castle.
Appointments preferred- call (540) 864-5136. Maximum two free passes per person. While supplies last!
Need documentation of your COVID vaccine?

RABIES ALERT: A fox was confirmed positive for rabies by the Virginia Department of Health on 6/30/2022 in the area between Botetourt Road and North Hancock St./ Springwood Road in Fincastle, VA. Botetourt County Animal Control collected the fox on 6/27/2022. Read more.

Virginia law requires pet owners (dogs and cats) to maintain current rabies vaccinations for animals four months old and older. In addition, citizens should not approach or touch wild animals, and should report any abnormal behavior involving wild animals.
