The Washington County Playhouse Dinner Theater is holding AUDITIONS for SHOUT!! THE MOD MUSICAL on Sunday, September 19. Sign-in begins at 2:00pm. Auditions begin at 2:30pm. Auditions will be held at The Playhouse which is located at 44 North Potomac Street, Rear in the heart of Hagerstown's Arts and Entertainment District and City Center.
With its irresistible blend of hip-swiveling hits, eye-popping fashions and outrageous dance moves, SHOUT! The Mod Musical takes audiences back to the music, style, and freedom of the 1960s.
SHOUT!! follows five groovy gals as they come of age during those glorious days that made England swing. Traveling in time from 1960 to 1970, SHOUT! chronicles the dawning liberation of women, from the rise of Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark and Cilla Black as independent women with major careers, to their American counterparts, redefining themselves in the face of changing attitudes about gender. With a shimmy and shake, the songs are tied together by hilarious sound bites from the period – from '60s advertisements to letters answered by an advice columnist who thinks that every problem can be solved with a "fetching new hair style and a new shade of lipstick."
This production will be directed & choreographed by Kelly Jenkins Moreland with music direction by Tyler Miller. All roles are open. Must be 16+ to audition.
Please prepare 16 bars of a song in the style of the show. You may also be asked to learn/sing a song from SHOUT!!, so familiarity with the cast recording is highly encouraged, but not required. Be prepared to perform cold readings from the script. There may also be a dance audition, so please bring or wear clothes that you can move in and that show our choreographer how you move. Please also bring jazz/character shoes if you have them.
All performers will be paid a per-performance stipend. Additionally, those cast will be given the opportunity to join the restaurant service staff (if legally eligible and following training) where they may earn gratuities.
Performance Dates (all performances in the evening unless specified): January 21, 22, 28, 29, February 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 26, & 27 (matinee).

Authentic Community Theatre presents One Night of Rent at The Maryland Theatre
Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 7:00 pm
Tickets on sale to the general public Friday, August 13, 2021 at 11am
Back by Popular Demand, Authentic Community Theatre presents: RENT ONE NIGHT ONLY! Based loosely on Puccini's La Boheme, Jonathan Larson's Rent follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. The physical and emotional complications of the disease pervade the lives of Roger, Mimi, Tom, and Angel. Maureen deals with her chronic infidelity through performance art; her partner, Joanne, wonders if their relationship is worth the trouble. Benny has sold out his Bohemian ideals in exchange for a hefty income and is on the outs with his former friends. Mark, an aspiring filmmaker, feels like an outsider to life in general. How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves and conflicts provides the narrative thread to this groundbreaking musical.

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)
Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining"!
