Governor Roy Cooper visited Edgecombe Community College on August 15 to announce that Natron Energy, Inc. plans to build the first sodium-ion battery gigafactory in the United States at the Kingsboro megasite, creating over 1,000 jobs and investing nearly $1.4 billion in Edgecombe County. This project is significant for the region as it will boost the local economy, provide high-paying job opportunities, and establish the area as a hub for clean energy manufacturing.

"Edgecombe Community College, in partnership with other colleges, will train the workers for this exciting opportunity," stated Dr. Greg McLeod, president of Edgecombe Community College.

The sodium-ion batteries produced by Natron Energy offer a sustainable energy storage solution for various industries.

The Edgecombe Performance Series begins soon and offers plenty of upcoming opportunities for entertainment. Sponsored by ECC, the 2024-2025 series includes eight events for the 18th season of bringing world class entertainment to the area. 7 p.m. in Keihin Auditorium on the Tarboro campus.

Join the fun at the 38th Annual Edgecombe Community College Foundation Golf Classic on Thursday, October 3, at Maccripine Country Club in Pinetops. The tournament is the ECC Foundation's primary fundraiser and supports student scholarships and Foundation operations.
