OCTOBER 13, 2022
Families enjoyed hearing from John Packard about the state of the school on Saturday.
Schedule Alert
Don't forget: This weekend is a Community Weekend with no overnight leaves allowed.
Family Weekend
We were thrilled to welcome our parents and guardians for a wonderful family weekend! We are building our album of weekend photos and videos, which can be accessed on our website's Parents Resources and Campus Highlights pages.

Additionally, local station WBZ covered Friday night’s football game and pre-game ceremony in honor of Preston Settles ’25. Thank you to everyone who attended and made for a truly special weekend.

As we plan ahead to next year, we would appreciate any feedback or suggestions that you have for future family weekends. Please send your thoughts to Director of the Brooks Fund and Family Engagement Mary Merrill.
Student Life
Day Student Overnights on Campus
Attention day student families: If your child is invited by a boarding student to stay over on a Saturday night, the student is expected to submit a request in REACH and you will have the opportunity to approve the request before Friday afternoon. Please only allow your student to stay on campus if this procedure has been followed and you receive communication from the school through REACH that we are expecting your student to stay.
Students came together last Tuesday to sign the Brooks School Community Pledge. Commitments to the vows — about respecting classmates and trustworthy conduct — are updated each year and displayed for all to see in the Science Forum.
Weekend Bulletin
There are many offerings this Community Weekend, including the always popular block party, coordinated by the sixth form. Check out the Weekend Bulletin to find out why Brooks students will be wearing purple on Saturday night.

Today, Dean of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Terri Ofori was inducted into the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers at Morehouse College! Learn about the honor here.

Health & Wellness
Call for Recipes from Home
This week, the "B Well" wellness program partnered with the dining services team to feature Recipes from Home. This initiative recognizes that food gives us more than just nutrition but also connection to our communities, families and cultures. Recipes can be submitted by anyone in the Brooks community and parents are encouraged to email recipes to Director of Health & Wellness Melissa Donais. This week's feature is baked french toast. We hope these special meals remind students of their communities and families both at home and at Brooks!
"B Well" Wellness Challenge #2: "Strive for Five"
On the heels of a successful hydration challenge, the "B Well" wellness challenges continue with the "Strive for Five." In this challenge, students are asked to consume at least five servings of fruits and vegetables each day for one week. Studies show that less than 10 percent of teenagers reach the recommended intake of fruits and vegetables each day but we hope to turn that around during this challenge week. Those students who reach five servings each day will be entered to win raffle prizes!

Ghostly Goodies is Coming on Oct. 31!
Thank you to all of the families who have already signed up or donated to Ghostly Goodies. That said, we still need lots more candy to feed your kids! Here are the four ways you can help:

  • Visit our Sign Up Genius to pursue our volunteer opportunities as well as to sign up to bring items to campus on Oct. 31.
  • Check out our Amazon Wishlist to purchase candy or other Halloween treats for the day.
  • Venmo a contribution to Jessie Kelleher (@Jessica-Kelleher-3) to help underwrite the event and purchase donuts (always a hit!) and other items.
  • Do you have large Halloween inflatables that we could borrow for the event? It will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Thank you to co-chairs Jessie Kelleher P'24 and Jaclyn Olivieri P’26 for coordinating this event! Any questions? Please contact Jessie, Jaclyn or Director of the Brooks Fund and Family Engagement Mary Merrill.
