Every day I see people making a positive impact on our community. Their actions inspire me to work harder to make West County a better place for everyone.
Today, I want to highlight our friend and neighbor Gil Patchett. Gil is 94-years-young and has been beautifying patches of public lands around his Richmond home for decades. He loves wildflowers and plants of all kinds, and he loves the smiles they inspire.
Gil lives on Dimm Street in the Mira Vista neighborhood of Richmond, just one block from where I grew up.
Every time Gil tends one of his gardens on public spaces, he shows us that we all have the power to make a positive difference.
Gil's indomitable spirit reminds me of the great Dr. Martin Luther King quote, "If you can't run, then walk. If you can't walk, then crawl, but by all means, keep moving."
